If you tame a dino you can only increse it level by 34 i believe.
So if your scorpion was lvl 2 when you tamed it, it will only go to lvl 36.
Tame a lvl 20 scorpion and you will be able to lvl it to 54.
And yeah, I tamed the scorpion at lvl 2.
edit:
Why have not heard of about this before? Even official wiki doesn't mention it in taming section. Also doesn't this kinda make low lvl taming pointless? You have much less base stats to start with and still same ammount of level ups (pre 26lvl wild)
I think they did it because it adds to the challenge. Why fight a lvl 36 Rex if you can tame a lvl 1 and then level it to 36? It gives you a reason to hunt high level dinos :)
Very good point sir never even thought of it that way but that makes total sense
For example a pteradon that was tamed at level 1 up to 35 with all its points in stamina would be better than a level 25 one tamed and levelled to 60 that has a whole bunch of extra points in oxygen food weight melee damage and other stuff you probably don't want because it started at 25.
Good point. But would you respect a guy who leveled his T-Rex to level 60 from level 1 more, or the guy who caught his halfway there?
No because it take no skill to level an animal (Because dinos lvl over time even if they do jack squat) It only takes skill/work to tame a high lvl dino.
Meh... now I gotta retame most of my dinos :-/ My scorpion got now akward stats because I just started leveling move speed and weigth (to offset saddle and food weigth)
Yeah but you also have to account for how long it takes to level up dinos at higher levels.
Much easier to get a level 1 to 35 than a level 25 to 60.
