Scopion max level 36?
So, my scorpion had leveled during (real life) night and as I logged in I leveled it up.

Now the XP required for next level is gone, the XP "arrow" icon stays filled up. But it can still earn XP (3036.4 and rising). Either they added a cap to scorpion max level or it's a bug.

it depends on what level the scorpion was when you tamed it.
If you tame a dino you can only increse it level by 34 i believe.
So if your scorpion was lvl 2 when you tamed it, it will only go to lvl 36.
Tame a lvl 20 scorpion and you will be able to lvl it to 54.

Oh didn't know that. Why such a weird number (34) and why such a system at all :S So all the waiting for my 2 carnos and they will be able to level only to 37 now....

And yeah, I tamed the scorpion at lvl 2.

edit:
Why have not heard of about this before? Even official wiki doesn't mention it in taming section. Also doesn't this kinda make low lvl taming pointless? You have much less base stats to start with and still same ammount of level ups (pre 26lvl wild)

I think they did it because it adds to the challenge. Why fight a lvl 36 Rex if you can tame a lvl 1 and then level it to 36? It gives you a reason to hunt high level dinos :)

Yeah, fair enough. I just wish I had known about it before. The reason why I tamed low level stuff was mainly because I thought that the lower the dino, the more customization you get with attributes (less preset). Even have heard other people say that.

I don't really get this system, even if you tame a level one and then can only get to level 35 at least you'd have all your points in the stat you need.

For example a pteradon that was tamed at level 1 up to 35 with all its points in stamina would be better than a level 25 one tamed and levelled to 60 that has a whole bunch of extra points in oxygen food weight melee damage and other stuff you probably don't want because it started at 25.

Good point. But would you respect a guy who leveled his T-Rex to level 60 from level 1 more, or the guy who caught his halfway there?

No because it take no skill to level an animal (Because dinos lvl over time even if they do jack squat) It only takes skill/work to tame a high lvl dino.

But if there is even one level in stamina, that 25 level one would be better, even if not by much.

Meh... now I gotta retame most of my dinos :-/ My scorpion got now akward stats because I just started leveling move speed and weigth (to offset saddle and food weigth)

Yeah but you also have to account for how long it takes to level up dinos at higher levels.
Much easier to get a level 1 to 35 than a level 25 to 60.

Innnncorrect. I've noticed it takes the same ammount of EXP.

My view of low level dinos changed from "best thing to tame" to "only good for meat and hides". Even when there are stats wasted on stuff you don't want, chances are it got couple levels more in stats you want, simply making it better.
