ARK's Backstory *Theory*
So I get this is a survival game and all and the story shouldn't really matter but I can't help to wonder about this island. I apologize if this has been brought up before but I just wanted to make a post about it.

First of all when we first start the game our character is kind of surprised or at least looks surprised. Waking up on a strange island with a strange device planted in your arm and such. There has to be more to it than that right?

I started thinking about this when I went reading through the dossiers. I can only assume your character is the one writing them because they get filled out as you tame or kill said creature. However your character seems to have a very broad knowledge on dinosaurs even going in detail about the class of the brontosaurus. But that wasn't the main thing that caught my attention. Reading the stegosaurus dossier it mentions the fossils of the mighty stego being displayed all around the world in museums. I myself haven't seen a museum on the Ark so your character must know at least know about the modern world.

Also who is controlling the Ark? Aliens perhaps :P the floating obelisk has to be from something. Maybe Aliens have programmed this artificial island to watch humans or something like that? I mean the dossier DOES mentions "fossils" so how are dinosaurs even there? Also supply drops are a thing full of actual crafted material so someone has to be putting them in there and sending them down. Even your implant calls you a specimen.

Then again I could just be looking too far into it. But I'd like to think there was something more behind the story of ark.

There are no aliens :) they are just humans in the far future way ahead evolved (you can see an hologram of a human with a double helix in the space station), the earths water and resources are destroyed as you can see in the end game and the arks 9 or 10 are just test labs with all kind of species (one is in red in the hologram i belive that one is the aberration the failed one), including our specie, in an effort of the future humans to preserve them from extintion, ^^ thats why there is the tek tier, and the ascension for us, in other words, they are evolving us to be like them and rescue the human race :steamhappy:

Basically the Ark's are a collection of space stations floating above a dead earth. The arks seem to be a way to evolve ♥♥♥♥ sapiens (which are now extinct) into ♥♥♥♥ deus. Thats basically all we have now and the next part of the story will appear in aberration.

they are just part of the evolution of the earth ^^ there are 3 holograms of the earth in the end game one pangea, the second is the actual earth for us the third one is the wasted one ^^ they are testing with all :) in aberration we will see as NPC humans mutated because of the radiation and the element they were infused :steamhappy:

People always assume aliens , its like "why cant humans be highly advanced to?"

it's a basic necessity of human race, believe in something beyond our reach or understanding, :) first they were called gods, now we call them aliens or extradimensional beings, we the humans always deminish ourselves and want to believe something must be ahead of us ^^ even now we could be called gods or aliens in the perspective of a cave man

Considering the fact that the Ark is a floating space station that is preserving life from a now-dead earth, it's probably a reference to the Biblical Ark, which preserved all species on earth during the flood.

These extra terrestrials have also captured several humans who happen to be expert palaeontologists. Every creature on the island has an implant just like yours which monitors everything. The large colored obelisks are in place to protect the island from being discovered, but also act as consoles with which the survivors can use to download data about extraordinary creatures the aliens have managed to create.
this would explain the fact that the dinosaurs look quite off. maybe the aliens got it slightly wrong, or wanted to make it more difficult.

Well, the reason that the dinosaurs look quite different is because they are all hybrids, none of them are the actual creature that existed on earth. The ♥♥♥♥ Deus made slight tweeks in all their DnA.
