Yep, just caves and mountains now. Thats what the developers originally intended.
Rutherford Jun 12, 2015 @ 5:12pm
...So they made getting metal even harder? That's super backwards.
Rutherford Jun 12, 2015 @ 5:12pm
Also it makes it all the more lucrative for griefers to block off caves, which is already BS.
Splosions Jun 12, 2015 @ 5:16pm
With the amount of metal needed for...ANYTHING...this is BS

Eh, i looked at a mountain and it has plenty of metal.

Mountains and caves are dangerous, not only AT the mountains and caves, but the route to them can be filled with Carnos and T-Rexes, so for some people, getting their meagre metal from the river rocks is preferable. This is ridiculous, since metal requirements on recipes are ridiculous already, and now we have to die and die again just to get to the metal!

staying on the beach in a "safe zone is really playing the game either. this is why the game has a tribe system. get you and your people to gether and go hunt and gather. all these lone wolves. every one want the end game stuff for the least amount of stress.

Devs said they'll add metal back to the old metal rocks tomorrow just in lower amounts, which I still think is pretty bad considering how much metal everything requires but its better than nothing.

Haha.

Here I've been hold up on a beach, far away from any cave, camping for supply drops in hopes for a metal pick to get metal from river rocks.

That dream died fast.

What? Sorry, I have five people now in my tribe, and we've been wiped out by a single level one Carnosaur time and time again. It's not truly difficulty if what's standing between your tribe and progression is a miniature T-Rex that will now two-shot everyone, and takes around 10 spear headshots to kill. It's called impossibility of progression.

you spec wrong then. if you cant get pikes out of a drop you dont belong there.
Dregora Jun 12, 2015 @ 6:13pm
Guys. Get a friend and get a raptor each. Nothing will be a threat anymore except a trex, but that's usually already in a fight. You can easily take on 5 scorpions with a decently leveled raptor, carno's, sabertooths, eagles. Everything but a rex and a bronto sarus.

I dont understand? the spear is the only thing you carry no one makes tranq arrows? do you stand in single file line when the carnos come at you. pretty sure pre modern human' s found ways to hunt and survive together . you cant have one guy take aggor with arrow and then flank 2 people each side to kill?

Yeah I don't even know where any caves are :) I've explored inland a bit but not all the way to the center squares.

In singleplayer it's going to be brutal now to get that metal if there are T-Rex and carnos in the path. Even a raptor in singleplayer is dangerous because unlike online, they won't miss due to latency issues.

Maybe I'll have to make some ladders and catwalks for a safe path to the metal ;)
