I've seen huge fortresses. Server 69 has South vs North theme going on where all the tribes in the south are more or less friendly and build together. Just yesterday I logged off for an hour can came back to find that our fort had been broken into. Found some neighboring tribemembers wandering about who explained that they drove the guy off, thanked them, summoned a friend to fix the leak and went on.
A good idea is to have your tribe span as many time zones as possible.
Ive always prefered to have a base floor open to the public, smithy and campfire open for whoever wanders by, and needs to repair their ♥♥♥♥ or cook some food before they starve. But then have an upper base for my personal stuff. a locked door leading to a ladder and another locked door. I want to build a base that I can show off rather than making an ugly square built for maximum defense. I like the idea of working hard to get your things and make a cool base. cuz games like this it takes effort to get even the most basic of things, so what you make is more rewarding. as opposed to MC where you just mine stone for 5 minutes and bam you have enough to make a huge stone brick house. gg, so ez
So it's a base building game, then?
I'm all for raiding, but jesus, at least do it when I can actually defend myself. Anything besides that takes no skill, just like in rust.
And the fact that, despite how good you build it, they can level it in 20 minutes completely means that planning your base is pretty irrelevant.
My server was friendly and lots of people helped each other. Or had a cute interaction that went "Can I join your tribe"
"No, I cant trust strangers"
"Ok, ill build my base over there then, maybe we can be friends"
Then came those chinese players (I feel racist blaming it on them, but they literally spam "china rules" In chat all day) and they started trashing everything they could. ruined the friendly atmosphere of the game. I went from being proud of my server, telling my friends to join me on server 298, to watching everyone leave it while the evil players spam "60% chinese server, China server will rule!"
Sadly that wont work in pvp, pve sure, just not pvp. They would destroy the stuff just to spite you.
Check out the updates coming up. It should be better. Hopefully once we hit beta, when progression and balance are looked at this game should shine more.
Well I either have to give up the fun part of pvp, and start from level one again, or pray that the PVP becomes less toxic.neither sounds fun. spending a week making progress just to have it collapse 10X faster than it began. Everyones frustrated by it, im hoping tomorrows update inspires me to continue on in this game.
Wheres the list of updates? I thought it was staying hush hush till tomorrow
Not sure if they compiled a list and posted it yet. I just know spikes meant to stop dinos is comng tomorrow and to check it out once the list is posted or play it.
But in fact there is very little to zero Player vs Player Elements on raiding an offlined player's base. Base like this is merely a PVE content which is made by players, Especially when these so-called PVPers(Griefers) use the flaws in the game to ABUSE these PVE contents.
My suggestion is that, all objects (building & creature) become way harder to be destroyed when ALL of their owners are offline. Making raiders to raid a "player-away" base instead of "player-offline" base, now that can be call PVP behavior
Actually, I think that would perfect (for me).
If someone has put effort into it, I'm ok with losing my base to them. I was never salty in rust when someone put effort into raiding my bases and actually won.
What makes me salty is when there's no risk at all and every reward to be had.
Risk VS Reward is how you get tension in a game like this. "Do I risk hitting a town or cave? I might get killed but I could get some good items!" or "If I kill this player, I risk his friends hunting me down" etc.
There's no incentive at all when offline raiding is literally zero risk, 100% reward and to NOT play that way means 100% risk, no reward.
They need to add more defensive engrams for the home. Dinos should not receive a strange artificial buff because they are defending.
You could starve them to make them more powerful and aggresive.
I don't want to spend more time to build a better base, it's not minecraft.
