Faster way to get wood?

I am building a wood house.....80 per foundation alone. TOok me two hours to do a 7x7 foundation. Is there a faster way than chopping trees?

Dinos can clear a lot of trees but gather more thatch, like a pick. I've heard Mammoths gather wood like an axe, but don't have one to confirm.

Pickaxe gives you tons of thatch but barely any wood, An axe will give you tons of wood but barely any thatch... So get yourself a few friends to play all weilding axes and cut down them trees.. Usually within an hour I'll have a few hundred wood anyways.

As you progress you'll get wood faster.
The metal hatchets/pick axes will gather 3-5 times faster than a stone one.
Then with the mammoth you will gather wood at an incredible rate.

Also the Trike can power harvest berries about 10 times faster than a human.

Yes, getting wooden buildings takes a while... especially when playing alone. i recommend building your base with the basic thatch pieces first, they are really fast to farm. you can replace the pieces with the wooden ones while playing on

Trikes will give you thatch against tree's / Mamoths are awesome for wood . If you have the levels i highly suggest you invest those 2 dinos as well the Trike can give you tons of berries but so can the mamoth.

Depending on your ethics and ideals, either raiding, teamwork or trading is your best bets if you don't want to do it all by yourself.

Mammoths collect copious ammounts of wood. I've just gotten 500 or so in ten minutes of farming.

i just have a metal hatchet and a little boost on meele damage, and i run through the wood spinning around like a tornado girl with my hatchet and i get 500 wood in less than 10 min...

I had a pretty terrible time at first gathering wood, and realized I was wasting a massive amount of time with travel during the process. Tame yourself a couple trikes and level up their weight. Bring them with you to somewhere heavily wooded, and go to town with a metal hatchet, loading stacks of 100 on each trike until they're just about encumbered. The fewer trips you have to make, the faster the whole process will go.

Its still quite grind-y, but much less so than carrying it all yourself.
