what skills for raptors?
i got my first raptor, and ask myself which makes most sense? carryweight for riding it, or just attack and health?

weight is a waste imo, you only gain like 20-30 per point. Raptors seems to be meant for speed, not utility.

I'd say get 1k hp to start, then up stamina/atk. Stam is a huge thing for them(sprint + attack)
thanks, i will go for hp first then.
what frosty said.. mostly HP till your comfortable, then depends on your usage... if for attack, then up dmg first, then stamina. If mostly just mounted travel, up that stamina, Then pour into dmg.

Weight may be interesting though, i have noticed in this game if you are above about 80% your total carry weight, you slow down. It is the same for mounts... so, i wonder if at least a level or two into raptor weight carry is a smart idea, so that it is always lower than that roughly 75% weight speed reduction.

I was thinking about this also because I always end up looting or picking something that adds just enough weight to slow me down.
Yeah same here. The standard weight on the raptors is really a joke.
I was looking for info like this, thanks for the advice! And yes, I'll probably increase the carry weight on mine a little bit, since when I am even close to my own max carry weight I weigh down my poor mount.
There is a lightweight speed, mid weight speed, burdened speed, and an overburdened non-speed

Took me a while to realize if i was under 30% or so (not sure on the exact point) I go Much faster than when I'm merely under 75%
My lvl 17 raptor got + 6 carry weight on level up. I think it's a waste.
Ah, that was going to be my second question: how much does each level increase the weight. That ...really doesn't seem worth it. Oh well.
well, I read in another forum that some believe tamed pets can only be leveled 34 times; which seems ridiculous to me... some people in this same post mentioned some of their pets MAXXED out in the 50s? I assumed they would cap at 60 like players. (do players cap at 60?)

but in this same forum, someone claimed they had a lvl 64 raptor, and got it in its mid 20s, leveling past '34' levels.

So, once all of this is confirmed, we can speculate on how many total levels you 'could' get on a raptor, and once your comfortable with sta/hp/attk, spend the remaining levels on weight.
i have a group of 6 raptors that follow me round they are great protectors in packs, i also use health till about 1k then melee damage

You can add 34 levels to whatever level the wild animal has when you tame it. As per a Dev answering this question on Twitch at time stamp 9:25

I would say health first to make give it survivability, the saddle armor should help as well. Then increase weight/stamina to fit your desired play style. Next, melee damage to your own personal taste. More melee damage is great, but raptors have high base damage already and can outrun any threat so melee damage isn't as important as it sounds. Last, consider speed since raptors are great for traveling.

Huh.

Why 34 though??? why not 30? half of 60.. what players max out at...

Furthermore, a lvl 1 raptor seems to have the exact same stats as say a lvl 30 raptor when tamed. Level seems to ONLY affect how long it takes to tame it...

so, again; why 34????? why not just have everything at 1 (of itll only ever get to 35...) and color code them for how hard they are to tame, or rather make it RANDOM so we cant cherry pick.. gotta hope and pray you get a 'short' tame. would randomize taming a bit, making it a tad more Random. (lvl1-5 raptor is 30 narcoberries, and less than 2 stacks of meat. everytime.)

I love this game, by if your going to have an odd cap on pet levels earned, Why don't they all reset to 1 upon taming; since the stats will be standardized anyhow??

I suspect changes to taming eventually, where an actual higher level creature will ACTUALLY have higher stats... which would actually be cool I think.
About the saddle...you guys notice it weighs 20? So if your running a pack of raptors and some are only escort does the saddle's armor make up for the extra weight?

Or would you rather carry 20 of something else? Like meat for the raptors or water for you?
