Best zones to spawn in
Hey guys. I was wondering what would you consider best zones to start playing in would be to help out some new players =)

So far I've grown fond of West Point 1 because:

+ Plenty of flat ground to build houses on and expanding them.
+ Plenty of wildlife. Great for continuous income of meat and hide, and later on taming. Dodo, Phiomia, Trike, Parasaur, Carbonemys, Bronto, Pteradon encountered so far. No carnivores apart from an ocasional Dilo so far.
+ HUGE amounts of bushes on the south eastern side of the island. (500+ berries and fiber in 1 hour of farming).
+ Water. It's an island with a lake in middle so water is always nearby.
+ Lots of beaches with stone and flint.
+ HUGE amounts of trees in cliffs around the beaches for wood & thatch
+ Cliffs for strategic house and/or trap placements.
+ Mostly peaceful neighbours, at least on my server.

- Always hot during day. Even with full clothes I've rarely been in normal condition. Perhaps I did something wrong so this is a weak minus.
- No omnivores. I've writen this as a plus as well, but in mid-late game geting some Raptors and carnivores stronger than Dilos are tough to find. gotta leave house for 2-3 days unguarded.
- Lots and lots and LOTS of Megalodons around the island. Geting of the island is a big risk.
- So far not a single metal piece was found. (level 30 with 30 + hours of playtime)

These are all personal points of view and other players expierience may vary with each server and playstyle.

If we could get more info like this for other zones it would be great =)

Southern Spawn is more friendly to those just starting out and allows access to two caves for quick leveling.
Northern Spawn has the highest density of high level carnivores thanks to its location of both major mountains and monster island off the NE coast.
Cant vouch for East and West as I didn't do a playthrough yet on either.

I always go for south 2. It got some nice high but flat ground. Plus it is near to the South Canyon Cave which is the best cave for power leveling. The east and west rivers either side of the cave have lots of rocks for metal. Around 100 metal per pickaxe atm. Plus there are only raptors to contend with and they are easy to outrun on to a second target.

I found West Zone 3 great as there is a great amount of trees and bushes and plenty of flat areas for bases. There aren't many carnivores around but also aren't many other dinosaurs either. (only dinos i found are dodos and dilos) there are very few megalodons and ichthyosauruses.

North 3.
Put the ocean to your left and walk the beach until you find the plains in the north east then head inland for the safety of the massive quarry.
Plenty wood, stone and bushes and the eastern beach by the plains offers Trikes, Carbons, Pteras, Paras and Phiomia. Head further east around to the river and you encounter Raptors, T-Rexs, Carnos and Scorpians.

We started on East 1 and it's pretty okay.
Some carnivores (raptors only) otherwise just mass on dilos with a lot of ground to farm wood and build houses on.

Is W-2 a good place? Got an analysis on that?

South 2 - build somewhere around the rocky peninsula (not on it, no basic resources except rock, but coastal areas near there are nice - we're currently across the mouth of the bay and across from the little island at the end of the bay there.

There's plenty of flat areas for farming, chill spawns along the southern coast for the most part, lots of rivers to follow to find beefier tames (easier sight and movement along rivers and easier to figure out your way around quickly), quick access to the easiest land cave for chitin, crystals, xp, some obsidian, and loot boxes, water cave(s) nearby, tons of easily reached oil (there's a little rocky bit just off the coast at the end of the rocky peninsula and just below it about 30ft in the water are two shelves packed with 10-12 oil nodes - easily harvested via dolphin/other). There's a big hill very close to the south/centralish coast with rich/other metal nodes.

I think the safest/easiest start is South 1 but it's not what I'd call the ideal place to settle and build a base since you're far from any caves or concentrated metal. There's a really nice waterfall set south coast west end but again - nowhere near a land cave and I don't think there's any concentrated metal nearby. My gang need to be near lots of metal, for sure.

In our last run we built along the south coast at the base of the metal hill I'm describing - which was also a good spot - with the added benefit of being central to several loot box spawns. We migrated up to about East 3 eventually - there's a large bay about 2/3 up the coast and at the end of the bay is a massive flat area with chill spawns. You're close to a mountain for argent/mammoth/sabre/metal/obsid/crystal, very close to a water cave, close to the isle of death for carnage/fun, land cave at SE corner is close enough but it's lava/jumps so it's a bit less ez-mode than the south/central xp paradise.

The East-2 beach area is usually very peaceful. Raptors may spawn if you travel along the river towards the obelisk, in the canyons and in the dense forests. I've seen the very rare scorpion and carno but they usually get owned by all the trikes in the area.

Pretty happy I started in "South 1", near that tiny inlet/bay area. Other than dilos, there aren't any real threats to contend with. I'll soon be looking to move, now that I have the engrams and backup (my growing dino posse) to handle those larger carnos.

West 1 seems to be a great place to start from the south tip of the island up to the long strip of water formed by the southeast penisula. The only agressive thing you need to worry about there along the coast is the occasional dilo. Starting out you have a good chance to find a trike or turtle trapped in trees, or can easily get them trapped. Plenty of cliff faces and high rocks usually to hit them from as well, making your first tamed dinos pretty easy once you have a slingshot. The high plateau in the center will have the occasional raptor or carno (at higher difficulty). The northeast part of the island (the "lake"?) can actually be a lot more dangerous as you will find tougher, higher level carnivores there (scorpions, raptors, carnos, and the occasional Trex or spino). You can also find stegos near there, again an easy trap in the trees dino.

It is not uncommon for a spino to roam down to the west coast of the island to the east, and as they go attacking anything in range, sometimes will come across the water and attack stuff on the east coast of the penisula, so be careful. That being said, it does give you a possibility to attack it from the cliff on the east and therefore have a great dino pet. Spinos need a really high cliff to hit them from safely, as they are fast, agile climbers. Also, be prepared with loads of narcotics or narcoberries as they regenerate torpor extremely fast. You will also need a lot of meat ready to feed it if you are doing it solo. Better if you have someone helping you with a spino, but it can be done solo if you come prepared.

Another plus is there are about 5 drop spawns in the area I recommend, generally white, green and blue (levels 3, 15, and 25). These are a great resource for starting players, with basic gear, blueprints, and building supplies. There are a couple of shallow, narrow places to ford the rivers, one on the west (basically due east of the green tower) and one near the northeast side to the east island (across a small sandy island).

Generally speaking the coastal areas tend to be safer, with things more difficult along the rivers and inland.

my favorite is south 3, plenty of pterodons, trikes, and stegos for taming, as well as tons of berries
