How does the "Neutral" Setting work for tamed dinos?
Went out hunting, had my stego on Neutral. I got attacked but the Steg did not intervene until I put him on agressive. It seemed that passive and neutral settings are exacly the same?

When set to neutral...

1) Shouldn't the dino help me if I get attacked?
2) Does the dino defend itself when under attack?
3) Does the dino defend other tamed dinos? Or wait until they themselves is under attack?
4) If set to neutral and enemy players break into the base, will the dinos attack them?

Also, whistling to ask your agressive dino to come back does not work. Perhaps a whistle should set an agressive dino to neutral/passive?

Neutral when its working correctly means 'attack what hit me'.

Sounds like it didnt work right for you.
Foxfire 2015 年 6 月 10 日 下午 10:48
Neutral also allows the dino to defend tribemates. Be it you, or other dinos tamed to you or your tribe. There is a radius, and maybe line of sight might affect things as well. We've moved entire caravans of dinos across the island, and set them to neutral so they defend themselves and eachother while we move. Seems to work fine for us.

Aggressive has the dino attack anything not aligned to you in sight.

And passive means don't attack, don't defend yourself, don't even run away.

Attack your target works as Neutral does, with the caveat of jumping to attack whatever the dinosaur is following attacks.

"Your Target" means they will attack anything you attack, anything that attacks them, or anything that attacks you.

"Neutral" means they will defend themselves if attacked, or attack if an aggressive dino enters their proximity (pre-emptive defense I suppose?).

Passive means they won't fight back regardless of what is happening, so will just die. It's useful for when you have a pet that you don't want running into fights, like a phomia or parasaur.

So if you've set them to neutral and start fighting a scorpion, they should attack it if it gets close to them. However, if you attack something like a trike, they'll ignore the fight and just watch.

i would like there to be some option for dinos to defend certain area but not leave any further. i would like to put my t-rex on gate to keep aggressive dinos out put if i put in neutrall they might make it past (specially raptors if they just run past) or if i set it to aggressive my t-rex runs miles before i get to set it back. something like defend 30 meters from this point or something. you know "territory defense"

Jump on a defensive dino like turtle / ankylo with plenty of health, set it to passive, then whistle for your trex/others to follow while you're mounted on it. The passive dino acts as a leash / home base flag that they run back to.

I wonder why that works but having it tied to you doesn't?

We have placed our dinos on different locations around the base(its a pretty large base). Sometimes when we log on, they have ALL moved to the same location, in a cluster.. So booring to put them all back at their places all the time.. Our dino's are set on neutral btw.. I guess a flying dino must have landed inside wall, and triggered some sort of defence mechanism.. xD

I think once your dinos go to attack after stood around base, rather than them staying clustered at the position they've moved to attack/defend, they should move back to where they where parked/stood. Also, it would be nice to enable pets to patrol an area (i.e by setting way points for them)

Dude the same ♥♥♥♥ happens to me on Ark Survival of the Fittest. Once I get to 2 dinos and set them on neutral, they attack everything that moves and I end up running from the death circle alone like a ♥♥♥♥♥.
This game is so cringe

Passive- won't ever attack anything, even if it means itself or it's tribemates die
Attack My Target- will attack anything that you start attacking or anything that attacks itself or any tribemates
Neutral- attacks anything that attacks itself or any tribemates, won't attack unless attacked first
Aggressive- attacks anything close enough to its aggro range, no matter what it is

It does, but when you log off, the follow breaks. Your carbonemys never logs off. (The player behind it must be getting tired by now... ;) )

I was curious if your tribes tames are on neutral, will they defend themselves from an alliance member from another tribe if that member attacks your tame?

This is some pretty outdated info, there is now an item called a Tek leash, despite it being called tek, it doesn't need element to craft. It has an adjustable boundry to lock tames in an area around it.
