Do NOT buy ARK: Survival Ascended!

For an upgrade that was promised to be completely FREE. The team are now stabbing players in the back and are going to charge a BUCKET load of cash for the UE5 upgrade. They even call it a totally different name (although the game is the SAME as Survival Evolved) just so that they can get away with calling it a completely different game and hence being able to charge people for it.

I hereby propose that ALL Ark: Survival Evolved players BOYCOTT this game until Wildcard reverse their decision and go back to their original promise of releasing this upgrade for FREE. Yes FREE not 80 bloody dollars! But FREE!

I also suggest downvoting Ark:Survival Evolved to show the disdain that we, as players, have for Wildcard and their treachorous turnaround with the upcoming upgrade!

Wildcard do you really think you will get away with this?

Considering the large amount of hours of enjoyment I have had from Ark I don't have a problem giving the developers more money.

I do think having to rebuy the DLC is unfair. Free UE5 DLC that matches what was bought for the UE4 version would be fair.

Snail games is likely the problem, from everything i've seen i feel like the reason for these decisions is that they are running low on funds for ark 2 which makes some sense as server hosting is expensive for starters, we have no trailers or screenshots of the remaster to show for it and it's been mentioned that a lot of content and dlc will only be added over time.

They're clearly rushing this release and there's so many hints that they are either getting incredibly greedy or need cash fast.. i mean what kind of company would just rename an existing game and sell everything all over again at no discount for existing players that helped a franchise become what it is today? for a game that's heavily community driven and even asks for community feedback/creature voting i don't think WC is the one responsible for this, at least if this all flops and snail games somehow goes bankrupt someone else can potentially buy them out and WC will hopefully be under a better leadership.

This is not Wildcard, but Snail games doing.

ARK is one of the few games that Snail games publishes that does well. Most of their own games have flopped hard because they are greedy bastards.

ARK 2 was ment to bring in the cash for 2023, but that aint happening so now Snail games is pushing Wildcard to this fiasco because snail games only cares about money.

If Snail games would have had it's way, ARK would have had microtransactions, just look at ARK Mobile.

Mark my words, my current bet is that this will get pulled from Steam to be made EPIC exclusive with a shady EPIC/Tencent Deal. Metro:Exodus comes in mind here.
Unreal Engine is a safe bet for a exclusive desaster since EPIC has started their own games store.

Just read about it from an MSN article.
While its been a bit since i last played, i definitely wont be buying any future versions or games.

The server aspect is just bs even though i havent played outside of SP for a while, losing stuff cuz of raids or whatever all the time stopped being fun to me.

I don't plan too, they screwed the singleplayer folk over by not fixing the resource nodes.. I doubt ascended will be anything different nor have any improvements although primitive+ would be nice
