Does anyone know how to stop dinos from spawning inside my gated up base?

Structures with ceilings or foundations can prevent spawns in a radius around that structure. People in the past then use things like a foundation and a pillar in it(so the foundation doesnt fast decay), and make them spread every so many meters around the inside of the base grounds. I personally do this with every other gate(if stone or 2 if behemoth gate sides) and then a similar equal distance within the base parameter. Other combinations of structures can be used as well but check the wiki for some other examples.

Others playing in single player or on their own servers can of course increase the nospawn radius around such structures to that less/none are needed but be aware that if you live near/next to important dino or other resources, this can and will affect them as well.

Idk how ti stop it, but since I built on a small Island, stuff doesn't spawn in it. Then again that could be my hoard of raptors killing and eating them before I notice them. So many raptors...

Gates themselves don't actually stop spawns, so yeah, as retsam said, foundations should reduce spawns. Troughs too.

Spam foundations. Just foundations won't cut it though, you need to place a foundation then place another structure onto the foundation, so you could use like ladders or fence foundations. Don't be random about it though, make your spam look nice, have a nice grid of foundations spanning your vast lands. Slap a few turret towers here and there as well, only if you're on pvp though.

Here is a idea. Instead of using them as protection use them to farm dino's at specific location since they dont stop spawns.
