You need a pipe down first.

It attaches to a pipe. Keep in mind that if you have a pipe connected to a tap, the resivoir is useless.

The resivores are used for pipes that ARE NOT connect to a tap. Think of it as a rain catcher.

No you need a metal pipe down. The Metal tank and stone tank need a piping system that hooks into a resvoir. That is the part that distributes water. If your not by any land then Rain water will fill the tanks and distribute through the system.

You might need more than one. They hold very little water.

You do not need to bump a thread that was just bumped. It's still at the top...

Yes. You can actually lay the system down you want pipe wise and lay the tanks on top. Not sure what your after but if your going for farming thats the best way. Again if your farming you will need MANY tanks. Not just 1.

What I did was first put a stone pipe intersection on the roof of my base. You can eye ball it easily so it's square with the edge of the roof and sticks out just a bit past it. Then I added a vertical pipe that goes down the wall into the base. Depending how high your walls are you might need a few vertical pieces to get near the ground inside your compound. On the end of that put a tap. That's where you'll fill your canteens. My cooking pot is right next to that too for convenience. On the roof, you can add up to three metal water tanks to the other ends of the intersection to have 1500 water on hand whenever it rains and they fill up. If you wanted even more water than that you could tack on another intersection and add more tanks.
