Not sure if this is working as intended but you have to be literally on top of it to be cool. That is a complete waste of resources if its going to do that.

Yeah, it really needs double the current range to be somewhat worthwhile, or, it needs to detect and fill rooms.

I agree with you. I feel like I have to hug it in order to keep cool.

Noticed the same thing. lierally have to stand next to it to see a difference. Not sure if it's because the coding is like a light (where it shines through everything including walls) but just to small an area or if it's volumetric whereis it's cooling the entire "enclosed" space, however the larger the space the less effecient it is.

Would be great either way to get clarity and if this is going to get improved upon.

it currently only cools 1x1 and if you are out of that 1x1...lol

I agree. Should set up code to recognize enclosed rooms and fill say 10 1x1 squares. If the room has more than 10 1x1 squares add a second AC to make it 20 etc. etc.

I havn't used one, but I remember a few patches back they increased its range. You are saying this is another 'fix/patch' which was silently reverted?

It's entirely possible their fix broke something serious so they reverted it. I'm sure by the time the game actually launches something as trivial as an air conditioner will be fixed.

The AC does not cool, it emits hypothermia as well as hyperthermia defense buff in a radius.
This buff starts off low and increases as you get closer to the unit. As a result you can use it against cold aswell.
It works even without a house, it just helps to be in a house because you get another defense bonus like that from being inbetween 4 walls, that stacks with the bonusses from AC and clothing.
AC does nothing for temperature. It buffs YOU and has no influence on the surrounding.

^^ correct but it needs to add these "buffs" at a greater range , even though they already doubled its range and amount once before.. they could double the effective range again.

It's got a range out of 2 tiles. It really needs a range of 4 tiles, or preferably 6 to be halfway useful, unless you live in a hovel.

Does the AC buff stack? Ie: Would placeing 5 AC units around the place increase the overall buff by a much greater amount?

I've not built my own yet. Another tribe built one and I found it to be mainly useless with my character crying of being too hot still sitting on top of the unit inside house.

yeah that tends to be how they work, i tend to put them above where i usually work, like the floor above or roof, and then when u stand underneath them u get the benefits of them. so space them out a bit like 2 a/c's apart on the floor above where you work most is my suggestion

Haven't had them stack in my experience; they're pretty worthless.

They are great if you want to stand on them, in a hot or cold area, and want to go afk... other then that, as is.. umm they make a neat sound, and a little fog cloud....

*extremely loud annoying buzz heard through walls, and far further than they actually help your insulation.
