to make it more 'balanced' we can have a two stage for some processed materials like metal (because it would be strange if we get metal ingots back from say our pike directly).
A 'dismantle' for equipment which will breakup the equipment into its components (with a loss from original, maybe 50%?). For processed materials like metal ingots used in the equipment, we will get back "scrap metal" instead. These "scrap" materials can then be processed separately into the 'unused' form. (e.g. melt scrap metal in a forge to get back metal ingots).
Some component types will be never be recycled though (e.g. cementing paste, polymer, electronics)
Scrap metal in your case is equivalent to basic metal - so no need to create any new 'resource'. Just give us back metal out of anything recycled so we could smelt it back into ingots again.
As for paste - yeah, this one i can`t imagine how you can recycle into basic components again.
But any other resource, like polymer/electronics/chitin/hide should be provided back as is (at a reduced amounts of cause). After all you can use the scrapped electorincs to set up smth again out of it.
1. Single player.
2. Reasons.
Basically, we need some method that feels less wasteful than just dropping them to the ground to decay away. Even using some of them as fuel is better than that. (e.g. allow us to burn thatch foundation/wall/ceilings?)
There's a suggestion subforum.
Sounds nice!
I've to much low level tools and think about the same when I was stand in front of the refining forge. ^^
I hope the developer keep an eye on this.
1. i got tons of hide armor out of green drops. Do i need them? No. Good thing i had a supply of fresh initiates to share these with them. But now i just throw away all these hides as initiates have grown up to chitin/flaks.
2. i did get chitin which i don`t like for it`s looks from the drops. I throw it away cause reasons. I would appreciate being able to reconstruct these. Tribe is of the same opinion as i :)
3. i get loot from other players i PvP against. This loot is mostly damaged and useless (as armor breaks when you shot others, you know?). I would prefer to use that looted stuff to fix my armor with it on the way (like tearing out a metal breast plate from flak and wiring it on your holled one and etc).
4. singleplayer where you don`t really need tons of armor sets 'left for emergencies'.
i always thought of dismantling armor in general....^^, you find so much frikking stuff from carnivores attacking you, and then inpsecting their inventory, if i could dismantle those cloth/hide armors, then it would be much more useful probably. at least for early/mid game people.
