Large bear trap breaking fast
A Stego broke the large bear trap in 2 seconds. What The hell? What is it good for if a simple Stego can break it in 2 seconds?

I personally understand the large breeds being able to "over-power" the traps... but this should take them more than 2 sec! and, I think the trap should survive; but be immobile unless demolished (for half resources)... not consumed on use.

but medium things shouldn't be able to break free... I mean, Dino's cant damage Stone or Metal building pieces, why can they damage a crude trap, that has one simple function... it shouldn't be Fragile in the slightest.

So they arn't meant for trying to trap and tame. They are meant for combating dino riders? Sounds good to me now someone without a mount actualy has a chance of beating someone with a mount.
but tamed and controlled dinos r not stronger than wild ones?

Can they be sprung on your own dinos or do they work like the auto turret, only hurting things you want it to hurt?

your upset that a giant lvl 60 dinosaur "only" got stunned by a tiny metal trap?
what about tiny 50/308cal bullet into head? dinos can be strong but steel is stronger.

I agree the guns seem almost useless against dino's but perhaps their skin is tougher than we give them credit for

Im prety sure it's meant to have some way of combating mounts. Normaly a mount would win 100% of the time versuses a guy with a bazooka and an assult rifle.

Who needs bear traps when palm trees and rocks work so much better?

i wish dino's could destroy all buildables there is no logical reason that stone and metal are somehow immune to damage sure it shouldn't be much damage at all per hit for metal but stone definitely should

Lmao! I was holding my tongue but you said exactly what I was thinking!

At level 73 and with my remaining Engram points dwindling quickly, I look to cheaper, more effective methods. Such as boobytrap palm trees ;)

This!!

its not like we aren't already 'trapping' wild Dino's to tame them... first thing I do when I spot a high end saber that I want to add to my pack is find a Rock to safely shoot from..

so, is it really going to be all that un-balancing if you allow me to spend resources to stop the saber in his tracks? even if you make them able to finally path around/up large rocks and trees; im still just going to build a 1x1x1 hut and take no damage taming them anyhow...

I understand it not being a Permanent root; but more than 2sec....

ugh; at this rate im scared that somehow the planned Tranq Dart for the Sniper Rifle is somehow "not going to be for taming" .... for some odd mechanical reason....

Actually the larger traps are currently not very effective against wild dinos. For balancing reasons at the moment, the primary use of the large traps is against tamed or ridden dinos, which they can keep caught for several minutes.
I wanted to use it to tame dino :steamfacepalm: Developper you screwed me!!!!:steammocking:I got out of a nus of spinosaure many time because of this!Tire of being digested !

If I had known that the traps are useless on PVE, I could have saved the engram points, thanks a lot. *grml*

another good point!

I don't play PVE; but I agree this should have been mentioned briefly in the patch notes etc to dissuade PVE people from wasting the engram points...

Ok Drake, thanks for answering. If that is intended, it's ok with me. Didn't know it was only destined to stop tamed dinos. Looks like they will have no use on a PVE server, then.

agreed Alvega. i guess that throws that great idea out the window for us pve'ers. guess its still continue to pray i dont die while trying to kite that rex for dear life since big dinos seem to need 10 zillion tranqs to go down and dinos like the rex or spino isnt slow at all

Build a stone structure then kite the rex into it. Tranq the crap out of the rex as he attacks the stone structure for no reason.
