Efficiency: Crossbow vs Bow

Hey i'm still confused as which bow is more efficient at taming an animal.

Crossbow.

It applies more torpor per shot (better ammo efficiency) and it's RoF is faster that the torpor over time effect so you should be firing at the same rate as with a bow (no loss in time efficiency).

Crossbow, hands down.
Regular bow is good for around 90 torp per 7 seconds.
Crossbow is good for around 150 torp per 7 seconds.

They both do the same torpor/damage so from an effieciency standpoint it's the same. The Xbow fires a bit faster than fully charging the bow, and does do more dmg and torpor per shot though. This is assuming the wooden bow, haven't had any experience with the new compound bow yet.

then it might be better to use a bow, dont ♥♥♥♥ it all they way, you do less damage and same torpor, as it seems the crossbow does same damage to torpor as a bow would, just at a higher amount

Nah, bow does less torp with half pulls. Based on my own testing in game, bow is good for about 90 torp where I can get 150+ with a crossbow.

hmm, i was always told it was the same torpor just diffrent damage, come here my little dilos, i have some testing to do
but if thats the case maybe crossbow on anything that isnt flying (i feel it would oneshot a pteradon)

For low level, low HP dinos, I'd recommend the Bow (so you don't accidentally kill). Other than that, crossbow all the way.

I read the wiki stated 95 damage from the crossbow, didn't know it was negated somehow. But yea I was talking more about pteras and one shotting them.

crossbow you can end up killing your target creature easier. I use crossbow for hunting, bow for taming, may take me more arrows but meh... I have a narco farm and a rex, narco is easy enough to make on the fly, and arrows are fairly inexpensive.

wait so the only good thing bout the crossbow is that it takes less arrows? I want to know if it has more torpor per hit and if it does more damage than the bow per hit

Yes, and Yes. Plus can be shot underwater.
