Dinosaur Review: Sarcosuchus

Information
Sarcosuchus, also known as either Sarco or Crocodile. The Sarco is a massive prehistoric ancestor of the common crocodile, easily reaching the size of a bus from snout to tail. These reptiles are capable of traversing the land, but they become real terrors once they enter the water.

Review
I. Hate. Sarcos.
I had a very traumatic experience with a Sarco in my early days of playing this game, and ever since I have held a rather deep seated prejudice against them. What made it even worse that my friends tamed the Sarco that almost ate me, so I had to live my days waking up with that same huge mouth looking straight at me.

Putting my....personal issues aside, the Sarco is of the biggest predators on the island, both literally and in terms of power. The Sarco is actually so big that it requires a Behemoth Gate in order to get into a base! As for it's capabilities, well, it can travel both land and water which makes it a good all around mount, but it's huge size can be an issue when traversing land.

Hunting
Sarcos are somewhat of a rare spawn from what I've seen (though my hatred for these guys think it's not rare enough.) You can find them on beaches, and as far as I can tell that's the only place you could find them.

No matter what, fight these guys on land. They are slow and you can easily walk circles around him, which you probably should as these guys have a horrible turning ability, and stabbing their tails is just as good as stabbing their bodies. There's no real reason to really tank these guys at all, and I think you don't even need any ranged weapons if you're not afraid of getting hit once or twice.

Taming
The Sarco is one of the tames where you should be prepared to spend a few hours on. Before you even consider taming one, however, just know this. The Sarco can only fit thorugh Behemoth Gates! My tribe learned this lesson the hard way, so our Sarco was forced to forever sleep outside the base. On a PVP server, this could mean trouble as it would leave them vulnerable to enemies to kill at a distance. If you're planning to tame a Sarco, make sure you can learn the Behemoth Gate first, or have a really good plan beforehand.

As a unit, the Sarco is a beast. It has enough power to take out Megalodons pretty easy, and has above decent speed in the water. It can also traverse on land, so it can reach places your Dolphin or Megalodon can't get to. It's size is still an issue, however, as they will get caught in just about every obstacle, so when moving this guy, be prepared to chop down some trees to make room. Also, it's not extremely fast on land, even at sprinting speed, and like mentioned before, it's turning capabilities is extremely cumbersome.


Final Thoughts
A part of me hopes the game devs will wipe the Sarco out of the game completely. However, for you other players, if you want something with power and can swim and trek across open beaches and dunes, the Sarco is a great choice. Just don't take it for walks through the woods.
