Can't find any Trilobites!

Hi,

I am playing on a private server and can't seem to find any Trilobites! Is there a trick to spawn them or are they only in superspecific regions? Or do I have to activate them in the config somehow?

I found them in a little creek about 1/2 way up the east coast. Also around that area they occasionally crawled out of the ocean onto the beach.

Yeah they seem to be pretty rare for me as well.

ive just been finding them on the beach on the north side of the island , they just run right outa the water and onto land

I found a few clusters of them on the ocean floor.... once you hit 1, they all run. So far, it's far more efficient to farm caves.

havent seen any on singleplayer either.
was the same when other new animals were added.
seems they take a while to spawn seen that the server pauses when you log off

I've found most near rivers that are close to an ocean

I found them in semi-deep water, where a river enters the ocean. Basically, if you can find icthyosaurs there, there is a chance for trilobites it seems ( I always see them in the same areas.)

This isn't saying they can't be in shallower water, i just havent' found any in shallow water

Yeah take a look in rivers and beaches close to the ocean. As others have mentioned you can also find them on the ocean floor. I prefer the beaches, I was on a southern beach the other day and there were crap tons of them. On the ocean floor they can be a bit harder to see, once you see one though you'll know what to look for. They kind look like little beetles sliding around from the distance.

In my case I know what they look like, its just the little punks don't spawn that frequently over a few hours of play on single player.

I agree. I went and mass-killed coels and piranhas trying to free up spawns for them (I am guessing they share spawns with those, i don't know for sure )

If you're in singleplayer I guess you could try spawning them in manually. Apparently from what I read in a different thread, the ID is Trilobite_Character_C.

Other than the small batch I found at the river mouth, I haven't seen any others
