just smash it forever with an axe and the axe breaks... on my official server..
That's because you're playing on an official server. That is due to ping/lag. Doesn't happen on singleplayer or small pop servers.
Hist your own server it's easy if you got enough ram
actually, it will happen on grades (i.e. hills) to where no matter how many times you hit it it won't give you anything and you end up breaking your tool, yet dino's one bite them and they are gone. It's not only because of ping/lag as this effect can be reproduced on single player.
To kill it I use a pike, I put 20-25 arrows into a level 72 from a crossbow, damn thing looked like a porcupine by the time it stopped.
