Dinosaur Review: Phiomia
http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/ark.gamepedia.com/d/d8/Dossier_Phiomia.png

Information
Phiomia. A large mammal about chest high, these creatures are prone to fleeing at rapid speeds. Some people say it's appearence resembles a cross between a pig and an elephant, and can be found in a variety of different areas.

Review
I can't say I find much use for these guys other than a food source. Sure they're suppose to be pack animals, and they can run like they're in an olympic marathon, but with such a low health and no offensive capabilities these guys are better off roasted on a fire until they're medium-well done. The sheer amount of meat and hide you can farm is absurd, on average I have harvested over 24 meat and 15 hide for every Phiomia I've taken down.

Hunting
The Phiomia is an extremely fast animal, so keeping up with one can be difficult, even when riding a raptor. However, they're not very smart about the direction they're running towards. If you could, try and herd it into the water. Once it jumps in, it's pretty much easy pickings to stab it with a spear until you kill it.

Taming
I'll be honest, I have never tamed these guys, and I don't think I ever will. You could use these guys as mounts, yes, but I think they're so weak that they will probably die to the first raptor you encounter with it. Still, if you really want to, I guess you can use these guys as a pack animals and such. You can make their saddles pretty early on, which could work for beginners, but they're easily overshadowed by other dinosaurs you can tame early on if you wait a few more levels.

Final Thoughts
It's one of the cases where I believe these guys are much more valuable as a food source than a tamed unit. The amount of meat and hide you can get can be used to tame bigger, better dinosaurs that overshadow the Phiomia, so I suggest saving your Narcotics and start sharpening your spears instead.

Holy **** you put a lot of work into reviewing these dinos. Great job! This and all those reviews should be stickied. So new players know which dino to avoid or tame/kill.

They're good as early pack mules.

At level one you can knock one out without TOO much effort if you don't mind the chase and be patient enough for them to get stuck on a rock. I also believe they're the first dino you can make a saddle for. So they're good early game dinos to tame.

They can keep up with you quite easily if you're on foot and they're following you, carrying extra supplies like camp fires, meat, house supplies etc.

And, since they've started to poop, they're great for maintaining a good sized farm. They defecate very rapidly so making fertilizer is quick and mostly painless!
