Stop the sun shining inside my base please
I have a metal base and it's hurting my eyes when the sun is constantly creating major sun spots / glares when I walk around inside. I would like to be able to have my base block out the sun and only allow my internal light sources to be active inside.

I've tried turning off all glare effects and it still does not help unfortunately. The bottom line is that I just want my base free from outside lighting influences. It stops the rain no problem, why can't it do the same with the sun?

Cheers!

There's a console command to remove bloom. Sadly I don't know what it is but you can probably google it.

Wait for it...

waiting?

Put a roof on your base..

Just kidding, I think the bloom command is your only option here. I'll check out the forums search to see if i can find it for you real quick, otherwise google will net a result for you.

Few folks beat me to it. Use those commands and you're golden.

Open the command console and enter "r.bloomquality 0" without the quotes.
You're welcome.

It's r.bloomquality 0, but you have to do it every couple minutes as the game reloads the ini every so often.

You can also edit your basescalability.ini file & search for all instances of r.bloomquality= & make them =0, to make it permanent.

That said, light going through walls should be fixed eventually. & a bloom slider added to the game options.

So I hit tab... enter in the commandline you have suggested and it should fix it? I'll give that a shot right now. Thank you all for the help. Cheers!

It won't fix the light going through walls, it only makes reflections & sun glare less blinding. You also will have to type it in every few minutes, unless you edit the ini file in my post above.

So I typed in the command it responded corrrectly indicating I set it to zero... however I can see the sun shining off my walls/floors in my base (and it still glares) when (in a perfect in-game world) it shouldn't. At the end of the day I would just like to see the DEVS correct this. Not asking for the moon, just a little more help with stopping the elements (in this case, the light) from penetrating inside my base.

Thanks again for the help folks. Cheers!

Are you sure about that?
When I enter it in at the start of my game sessions it stays fixed until I close the game. Doesn't ever reset

I'll be sure to get into my ini file and make that change. Thanks mate!

That's odd. It rectified the problem for me.

Use shadows. :P The lack of shadows in your graphics forces light and bloom to be crazy.

I've had 3 tribe members confirm it. I believe it's when you transition to a new area that it reloads settings from the ini file, but I'm not 100% sure on what causes it.

There are also 4 instances of r.bloomquality=# in basescalability.ini(one for each post processing setting). So you will also have to set it again if you change your post processing settings in game I believe.

Edit: OP's problem isn't bloom though guys, it's light going through walls in game. sunlight, electric lights, even torches all go through walls in this game right now. Hell, sunlight even goes through the tops of mountains in some spots(inside the mouth of the volcano is one of them).

I noticed more of a difference, however you can still see the sun spot wherever you go in the base. It's more noticeable in a metal base vs wood / stone. Regardless, it did help.

Cheers!
