Refrigerator open/close sound effects jarringly loud
I can't be the only person who has noticed this, but opening and closing the refrigerator have noticably disproportionate loudness to the other sound effect assets. Combined with the fact that the effects themselves are sudden, jarring / clanking noises this I feel detracts from gameplay. I rely on two refrigerators regularly and it's bad enough where that sound alone is the thing that gets me to stop my play session -- it's just damn annoying and things can be very peaceful in the camp, then you want to grab some berries or something and WHAM-CLANK-WAKE UP IT'S REFRIGERATOR TIME HELLO DOOR IS OPEN! WHAM-CLINK-CLANK OH YEAH YOU DID IT YOU ENGAGED THE REFRIGERATOR AND CLOSED THE DOOR YES YES!!
Please. Loudness. fix it.

Sound is such an important part of a game like this and I worry that will be lost in the early-access cash grab so many prematurely successful titles end up doing and just crank out any content they can without really giving the proper attention to the impact to the player.

It's a small thing, but this is the kind of game that is made up of small things. Did you really think smashing stone and literally grinding it for hours was the core feature attraction? :D

No problem here. People whine about everything these days. Jeez.
What they should fix is the stereo sound, which everybody is asking for some time. Mono sound is ♥♥♥♥. Can't tell which side a dino is coming from from it's footsteps.

No issues with it here either. Honestly, the generator is much louder than the fridge. And I acutally enjoy the clinking sounds and such. Makes it sound like an actual fridge.

Old fridges like 50 years ago used to make that noise when open/close , we dont have walmart on the island to buy modern stuff (maybe someday starbucks :p) and we are not macgyver either. ;) , sound is ok

Agreed. Jump scares me almost everytime I close the door.

Is anyone here seriously arguing realism? Stop that. Alvega , you are an amazing person to belittle my complaint as asinine then offer your own asinine complaint. Your complaints are important , of course, because they are wise and thoughtful and would help everyone, right? right? Sure, wwise doesn't have stereo sound LOL. It's obvious they haven't done much with the soundstage, but the engine they have is top notch so we know at least they COULD have world-class positional sound , and, if I may be so humble as to again assert my vastly inferior argument, i think it is also very achievable to get loudness normalization without sacrificing quality.

Bottom line seems to be they have not attended to the soundstage in the project yet; it's got a long way to go.

The fridge is extreamly loud for me as loud as a rex roar. but much shorter. so its like everytime i open and close the fridge its a dino screaming abrubtly at it. as if i hurt it. i like the sound but i agree it would be nice if they added some normalization or at least mor in depth sound sliders.

A project that is still in Alpha and Early Access has a long way to go? Who would have thought? :steamfacepalm:

Be more gentle. Just because you are having to survive off the land does not make you must open and close the fridge like a savage.

Is this game finished yet? I'd really like to get back to playing it.

I agree the sound on the refrigerator is way too loud if i use headsets it actually hurts my ears so im forced to listen to the game on a much quieter setting than id like. Also if i try to use my speakers at night I have to have the game so low that the only thing i can hear is the damn refrigerator because if I have the volume low to where i can just hear things then open the refrigerator others in my house complain about the loudness at night.... Honesty id be happy at this point if i could just find a way to just find a way to remove that sound.

aye make different option for fridge-sound! to make us able to select sound of opening-closing fridges. i.e. to makarena or lambada melodies))

Not to contribute to an already-necro'd thread, but...

On PC at least, if you go to your in-game Options and open the Advanced Settings (the icon at the top that looks like a sword next to a gear), one of the options is "Inventory Access Sounds". Uncheck that, save, and you'll never hear the refrigerator noise again.

Note that this turns off all sound effects for accessing inventory (including your personal inventory, tames, preserving bins, storage crates, etc.), but frankly, I don't miss them at all.
