It's not in the next patch yet. It's coming "real soon".
Atm Sergeant Tippytoes mostly guards the entrance to the base from ants.
In the end, The Bronto is most likely not meant to be an efficient gatherer. Once more Dinos actually get released into the game, roles will become spread out amongst them all and things will be a little less linear in terms of who-does-what.
Ultimately, the Platform-Saddle will be the point of Brontos once they are out.
On a somewhat unrelated note.
Has there been any word on how the Platform-Saddle will work?
What's the build limit? How is the Bronto's carry weight going to come into play? What happens to your platform, structures and containers when the Bronto is killed?
Kind of feels like the equivalent of stacking priceless Ming Vases on top of a tower of cards.
No serious, for a lot of my taller buildings, lighting posts, running electrical cables from roof to roof. I use the Brontos to get me up to these high places, position him and climb up its neck. :)
Easier to simply build a forge and smithy up there. :p (At least in PvE)
Building foundations to put your forge on affects the resource spawns though. I'd rather not see people building loads of tiny huts on the mountains just to put a forge and smithy in.
