PVPVE means Players Vs Players Vs E (I forgot what E was called, but I know its the AI/Dinos)
PVE Means Player Vs E
So, really, all PvP servers are actually PvPvE since they are populated by dinos?
Yes, I do know what PvE is, but I'm looking for the extra "Pv", that is PvPvE. Since it contains "PvP" I'm guessing it should be like ordinary PvP, but I fail to see what, if anything, "vE" adds.
Thank you for your replies, both of you!
PvPvE is Player vs Player vs Environment (AI), this means that there are threats other than players, and killing players is not required, however is still possible and other players are still threats, but not the only ones.
Ark is more accurately PvPvE as the envoirment (dinos) are a threat that has to be dealt with rather than the only threat being other players as would be implied by pure PvP.
That said, it's common to take the existence of a hostile environment as read and just focus on the presence or absence of player vs player conflict.
"Friendlier"... for instance no offline rading, no griefing, limited killing each others' dinos - things like that?
When comparing the simple rules of pvp vs pve, PvPvE is esentially just PvP.
Its nothing more than a different way of saying PvP (in relation to ARK specifically).
Other games use PvP as a different game mode where there are no monsters or E (in this case, dinos). This is where PvPvE comes from.
But in my experience, PvPvE when used on ARK is a way of saying freindly PvP.
Yes it generally means there are structured and organized pvp events, and usually they don't do BS like wait til everyone is offline at work to wreck their stuff.
Yes. Only unofficial servers can put that in the title or description.
There are some where the different name means nothing because the admins aren't active. But there are some, with active admins, that do enforce the friendly atmosphere.
