Metal Arrows Useless - waste of 70 points
No idea if they do anything, as metal arrows can't be used with regular bows or even crossbows! WTF? There's no note about this on the engram either that I could see. Just wasted 70 points on something I've been waiting a long time for...and logically it should work, but then they make the arrows exclusive to the compound.

This isn't exactly ragequit stuff, but it is dumb as bollocks.

but i heard you can use stone arrows on compound bow, that make no sense.

should be fixed

Well the compiund bow shoots at higher velocity so it makes sense that to get the armour piercing effect of metal arrows they need to be fired from that, they could make them useable with normal bow but just have slightly more damage than stone arrows and no armour piercing effect.

Are you not level 70? From what everyone has said, the compound bow with metal arrows are quite strong, even if they cost too much to make.

It makes perfect sense if you know anything about bows.....or even just basic physics.

i have only wanted to say, that ingame we can shoot stone arrows with compound bow. make no sense that we can do one thing and not the other. ingame is not real life as oyu maybe know.

and dont tell me about basic physics

Actually its wrong from past experience with bows i'd say stone arrows would explode on impact and cause Compound bow issues if fired, they were not designed to shoot and at speeds metal and carbon fiber can, they are much much stronger.

Either way at current the resources needed to make the stuff is not worth it.

I know my kids have taken out my good hunting arrows when they broke all theirs on their 30-pounder. There's nothing stopping a regular bow or crossbow from using the good metal arrows.

I guess I was really hoping for an upgrade from the stone arrow for use in regular bow, something along the lines of what it takes to make regular rifle bullets - steel head arrows (1 paste, a little thatch/fiber for fletching, a few metal only for the shaft and head).

What we got instead was a massive leap from level ~10 arrows to level 70 arrows, and no way to use them practically.

I would make much more sense to be able to fire metal-shaft arrows from a regular bow/crossbow than to be able to fire wood-shaft arrows from a compound bow. The acceleration on a compound bow can cause dangerous issues using wood-shaft arrows.

In terms of draw pounds, you can get recurve or compound bows at very similar ranges of draw pounds. But in general you don't have to be as strong to draw and hold a compound bow with the same draw weight as a recurve bow.

I've shot all kinds of arrows out of compound bows... wooden, graphite, aluminum...

But if you are going to shoot a heavy draw weight, you need a stronger arrow. And since compound bows tend to have higher draw weights and faster launch velocities, it doesn't take too powerful of a compound bow to exceed the point where a wooden arrow becomes unfit for use.

But then again, we're talking about people who murder each other and survive in a land with 2 ton carnivors trying to eat them.

They probably aren't as concerned with getting splinters or the chance of an arrow shaft snapping of and spearing their hand...

That's actually probably on the botton side of their list of worries...

End of the day though, it is possible to shoot wooden arrows out of a compound bow. Wouldn't recommend it... but it's very possible.
