Text formating on Sings and Billboards
Is there a bigger list of hidden formatting commands available? I found out that some HTML tags will work. For instance <BR> will add a linebreak which is handy :)

Anyone have any more tips?

NOTE: The <br> tag seems to work only on every other line or so.. and needs to be put without spaces. "<br>chitin" for instance. Depends on billboard width!

This is how i sorted a list that describes our coloring of storage cabinets on a billboard:
<br>Green = Wood
<br>Blue = Stone
<br>Red = Fibre
<br>Yellow = Thatch
<br>Purple = Flint
<br>White = Hide
<br>Black = Chitin

Oh, that's very helpful, thanks. Though it does also seem to add a <BR> when it's not supposed to, at times.
I like to keep recipes up on the wall.
I entered: "Combine<br>3 Oil and 5 Hide<br>to create<br>3 Gasoline"
It displays like:

Combine
3 Oil and 5 Hide
To
Create
3 Gasoline

I do wonder how you managed to get it to work with the <br> every other line, since there's no way to actually type the carriage returns you demonstrate in your post.

Edit: Oh wow, finally got my first one to work. It seems to work differently not only on every other line, but based on the length of the line.
I had to use:
Storage <br>Wood - Forest Thatch - Yellow <br>Fiber - Green Flint - Orange <br>Hides - Brown

The spaces after "Forest" didn't work after "Green" I had to use one space in that location.

It's because the sign automatically wraps around at a certain length, but does not account for the <br> when wrapping. Bah.

The following:
Chitin / Keratin - Tan <br>Metal -
Silver Pearls / Oil / Crystal -
Black <br>Weapons / Gear - Red
Taming - Purple <br>Building -
Blue

(I cut off the lines to demonstrate where it's wrapping)

Displays like:
Chitin / Keratin - Tan
Metal -
Silver Pearls / Oil / Crystal -
Black
Weapons / Gear - Red
Taming - Purple
Building -
Blue

What they need to do is remove the autowrap when <br> is being used on the sign.

Yes exactly! That magic autowrap is well wierd. Also ive found that you can make it look great! Then you scoot of somewhere for a little while and when the billboard has fetched the text from the server database, its all screwed again :S
Yes, I'm noticing the same. I don't know why it formats differently when loaded from the server vs when immediately entered. I hope they take a look at this, at some point down the road, though.

Or give us a few hints how we can format it until then... Tags to use etc, if any, until they do. We are usually good at finding workarounds when stuff ain't working 100% :)

It will space the words to fill the whole sign length if there is a space for it to break with. It is annoying, but that seems to be what it is doing. Workaround possibility: fill the rest of the characters at end of desired text with spaces followed by a . or something. Or don't use spaces between words you don't want separated, use a - or _ instead? Ugly, but so are weirdly placed words... this bothers me so much. I'll have to play around with some html tags if they are truly working, thanks.
I've actually tried that, unfortunately, Santas. It will act even more odd if you do that, as if it considers the contiguous spaces to be a word that it has to wrap around.

It also acts differently if you state Wood-Green vs Wood=Green

Make sure you use lowercase and no spaces, I had the same issues <br>

so, late to the game, but it works well if the text is short, due width limits and the <br> has to be attached to the beginning of the next line, with a space separating it from the previous line.

1. Metal <br>2. Cem. Paste <br>3. Obsidian <br>4. Thatch

works for every line.
