I thought the Meganeura was supposed to be big. They look regular dragonfly sized to me.

They are meant to be scavengers. I've had swarms come out of nowhere to steal my kill. Try to contest it and you get swarmed. I find it pretty interesting.

They're still too tiny. They add nothing but annoyance to the game.

They do have a purpose. They add more diverse fauna to the game. They help imersion by adding more of said diversity. And they add another thing to kill to get chitin. They also make surviving 'that' much more difficult.

Not every animal in the game needs to be tamable. Not to mention, how exactly would someone tame an insect?

T-rex is a semi-congnisant, large animal. In theory, with enough selective breeding and positive reinforcement, you could tame/domesticate them.

This is something that is impossible to do with insects.

Yes, I understand this is a game, but suspension of disbelief only goes so far. Yes, it's a bit silly to tame a T-rex by shoving food into its piehole, but at least I can imagine a person feeding and raising one from infancy to follow them around. It's 'semi'-believable at least.

But an insect? They are not much better than a single cell organism and lack any sort of 'thought'.
