Taming - What torpor level/how low or high must you keep unconscious?

So, I see all these taming calculators and such, but none of them tell me how high torpor should be kept at.

Ie, to tame a lvl 53 Scorpion you need 29 narcotics and 55 spoiled meat only? At what torpor level must you keep it unconscious for with only 29 narcotics?

I don't want to waste narcotics, if it *only* needs 29, vs dropping in 100 and hitting it up to keep it above 50%?

Dino will wake up when topor reaches 0 so above that.. :), early you usually want to keep it near maximum, so you dont have to come back as often ( though it all depends on dino and its topor level ), for last 1-10% it can drop as low as you feel safe with, it will tame the same if its 50 topor left or 500.

1 narcotic increases torpor by 40. So as long as you wait until more than 40 torpor has dropped before using a narcotic, that 29 you stated should allow you finish the tame, but with less than 40 torpor on the animal to go at the end. I say should because the calculations might be off.

As Smikis said, as long as it doesn't reach 0, you'll be fine.

I typically bring a stack of 100 narcs just to be safe. I let torpor drop to about 100 and spam 5 narcs at a time to bring it up by another 200 (I use less if the animal doesn't even have 300 torpor as it's max so I don't waste any narcs) When the tame is nearing completion I'll just use 1 or 2 narcs at a time whenever it drops below 100, sometimes I'll let it drop to 50 before I use another narc. Very little wasted narcotics but also not too close to 0 torpor to be a problem, but it does require vigilant watching.
Also, if it looks like I'll need more food/narcs, I'll spam enough narcs to get the animal's torpor back to its max and head back to base to resupply. Might waste narcs this way, but better safe than sorry.
Also...again, sorry, if you're worried about narcotics, get a crop plot and plant a narcoberry seed. You'll literally get hundreds every day so you can drown in narcotics. Then it won't matter if you waste a few narcs, or even a few dozen. You'll be able to quickly recoup the losses within a matter of hours or days. Faster if you have more than one narcoberry plant.
