My Solo Taming guide
Just saw some posts about taming solo and thought i might give a few pointers i've picked up along the way. I'm by no means the best so feel free to criticize. you will need one Dino pack mule and one dino Capable of holding his own in a fight.
1. Set the Dino Pack mule to Passive
2. Set the Other Carnivore (Raptor to start then i used Carno's) to Aggresive.
3. Get on the Pack mule and Hit J to have the Carnivore follow,
Park the pack mule next to the Dino you want to tame and the Carnivore will act like a guard dog not letting anything near the pack mule and your tame,
You can actually leave the area now and look for Prime meat to help your tame if its another Carnivore.

Sounds awesome! Will try it soon. Thanks for the tips!

This is after the target is knocked unconscious right?
I had thought of this but never tried bcos I was afraid that aggressive pets will attack unconscious wild as well. Thanks for the confirmation.

Cant have any dino with any sort of AOE attack near a taming dino. Which is pretty much every dino AFAIK. I just put a couple dinos around tit out of range and hope they get aggro first. That usually doesnt work with dilos (and now ants).

Also I have noticed if you have a T Rex parked close by nothing seems to come real close, other than birds, and then there usually has to be more than one. Not sure if that is coincidence or design.

Until your guard dog agros onto a bird and runs across the map trying to tear it's throat out.

Would be awesome otherwise

Until the raptor attacks a Trike, Stego or Turtle...then they kill the raptor and the animal you are taming..

I'd call this more of a how to guard your tame tip.

But that's just being technical :cybereye:

But really. Here is a tip to go along with the op.

Use a high health trike on passive when trying to tame an aggressive Dino like raptors, that gator, even a carno. Because then you can sit on it (not riding) and shoot tranq arrows. Works pretty well.

I believe the solo taming method is 'have enough kibble'. Otherwise... knock unconscious, build small fence, place preserving bin, have a saber.

Another way to protect your tame is to simply build walls around it.. thatch builds very quickly and as long as it's high enough you have nothing to worry about as dinos won't be able to see your unconscious tame. However, it may be tricky to build ceilings if you're fearing birds in the area. Tricky, but not impossible (depending on the size of the dino).

your dino's wont attack your tame as long as the taming process has started, ive tamed two T rexes this way. and it only gets easier

+1 Never thought of the aggressive follow method - similar to the "anchor" method of keeping dinos in your base. I'll have to try that with my Carno and Rex! I'm always so paranoid that my tame will get eaten as soon as I leave it alone.

I perched my Rex on some rocks and tranqed 2 Sabers at once from standing on its head lol. The cats conveniently got stuck on the rocks, but if they hadn't my Rex would've easily eaten up those bites.

It's not a bad idea but I don't think this will help solo tamers considering it requires two decent tames to work in the first place

not really, the pack mule could be a Parasuar even at level ten. i agree the other dino has to be a quality dino but a solo player goes into it knowing he will have to tame at least one dino solo

Actually I like this idea. But if you don't have much carnivores yet still you can solo-tame anything on land.

I had to make "tricks" cause I play in singlreplayer only. (But wanted all the achievements :D)

So to knock out carnos or trexes and spinos I used the environment just walk around and shot them from a cliff till they collapsed.

Another fine method to tranqualize is to stand up on your trike (easy to tame when stuck on a tree for example) or stego. Just mount and unmount it. Oh and don't forget to set your "mount" passive beforehand.
It is good for carnivores tame too if the mount of yours have a plenty life (1000-2000). If more than 3000 life it even can witheld a low level trex while you tranq it.

Or you can build towers from a foundation, some walls, equal amount of ladders and a ceiling.

After the knockout I used spiked walls and build around the animal.
With the cliff shooting spot the half dino is collapsing into the cliff. So make around 6-8 walls is not a big deal.

I hope it helps some "starter" players.
