Curious about differences in wood, stone and metal bases for single player? And how to fit dinos in a cliff bayside area?
Hey all so l am curious about this as l had to start my game again due to a problem l had with getting no engram points :( so had to delete my past level 60 character and start again!

For a change l spawned at South 2 and l discovered this really rocky area but honestly don't know that it will be appropriate to build on as it seems the rocks there yield metal so l want to be able to harvest them :) however l am wondering if anyone knows of any really good cliff side area that overlooks a river and can have spinos spawn in it and that also has room above to house dino pens etc and another good area in the south where you could eventually keep water dinos? And co ordinates for both please? I really want to build a base that wraps down the side of the cliff and really want to build a base like that and have different areas like raptor pens Rex pens spino pens etc. But l also want it to be able to cope with dino attacks!

Another thing l am wondering is since l get the chance to do the engram points again what type of base would work best for single player? I won't be building any base at all just a thatch floor right now till l can get the perfect spot to build my base! Then l will craft and do everything for it! I also would like to possibly have engram points leftover at the end l really wanted to build an all metal base but am now considering doing a base with a mix of wood and stone! But know eventually l will need Barmouth gates too as l discovered in my last game a meals don won't fit out of wood gates lol but then I also wonder how the metal gate will fit with a wood and stone building and wonder if l should still learn metal and do a metal base anyway! Since it would look awesome even with being single player! Guess l am just looking for advice and will make my decision around that as honestly l don't build my base till l decide what the materials are l am going to use and l think the metal base would be an awesome challenge but then know l won't have any left over points for future saddles etc which l really want to have :)

Any help or advice on this is appreciated!

Thanks

if you play single, then Stone for everything exposed; wood everywhere else. (or thatch, if you like the look o it.) Metal is unnecessary. period.

stone is Dino proof; but susceptible to explosives... playing single, you don't have to worry about explosives; so make your stuff out of stone. if you made it to 60, I think you should know enough about wood/thatch already. obviously, if your building is safe from wild dino's all wood... but your outside walls and exposed areas should probably be stone.

for a Place to build; especially single player, I think you want the Hidden Valley around lat 22 long 69. its close enough to the NE mountain which is littered with metal; and has quick access to that NE river which frequently has spino's in it. very open valley, plenty of room for all kinds of pens, houses, etc...
