If you're on scorched earth you can equip a mantis with a hatchet. Otherwhise you could tame one in scorched earth and then send it to whatever map youre on. (With the Obelisks)
I am really hoping you know that this is a thread from 2.5 years ago, before Doedicurus was released.

how do people even find these old threads?

Doedicurus is so enjoyable with farming stone and it's weight reduction on them.

For real. I played ark before doeds were a thing, 90% of the time, metal bases were easier to get then stone, so people just went from wood to metal.

indeed and with vanilla settings collectign stoens form beaches was even more efficient than hatchign stones (since that even broke your hatch). Horrible way to build bases, especially since i still build my stuff of stone as it is the most beautiful building material in my opinion. (ignoring primitive parts).

I agree stone has the nicest textures, but it really annoys me because there are no stone tier ramps or storage bins.

true, this indeed sucks a lot, evertime I am "wher eis the stone ramp" Oh it doesn't exists. dammit. And aproper stone resistance storage would be nice, or a lighter metal storage board, but the vault feels like massive overkill. it's simply needed becasue to much dinos clip bite through walls damaging stuff they shouldn't be able to damage.

(I play primarily PvE at the moment) When I start the game, I always build a raft with the same design. 4 pillars in each corner, with a large platform on top with ramps leading into the water from the top. I also have 5 large storage bins between each of the pillars on 3 sides of the raft. But not having a stone tier ramp or storage causes the ramps and bins to get broken by sarcos and leeds all the time.
i know this thread's ben necro'ed HARD, but scanning through i see mention of the snigle.... ah happy days :)

Best miner is a high level mantis with an ascendant mining pick.

But you probably just want an ankylo.
Grimmrog_SIG 10 Thg01, 2018 @ 2:00am
I usually cargo like 3-4 doeds/ankylos, 1 pimped for damage, the rets for cargo.

then one o fthem mines stone/metal, the rest are there for carry weight reduction. Lots of metal/stone you cna cary that way. manstuis can't carry much unfortunately and w ecan't breed them for weight. (but good for mining too).

If he wants stone he wants a dodec, not an ankylo. As for poster #1 (who is now 2.5 years older), it's a hatchet, not a pick. :steamhappy:

How cool would it be if the OP had been harvesting with wrong tool for 2.5 years and then came back to this thread now.
