Metal Axe to rock. Or beach collecting.

go along shore or rocky area... spam e/ macro e... don't even try to get it with an axe... just a waste of time and materials.... Ankylos gather stone fairly well on metal giving rocks...but unless ur base is close... meh...

note: i have a path that i do that gives 30+ stone easy in like a minute... find something like that...

Use a third party tool such as AutoHotKey to set up macros that spam your E key. Then just run around picking up rocks. Faster than chopping boulders. Faster than ankylo. Much faster than farming fiber.

this.

at late game, im to the point now where I use a metal axe on Metal mountain rocks.

I need the excess stone for massive amount of sparkpowder/cement paste... and it still nets enough metal to sustain. I Rarely use a pickaxe on metal rocks anymore.

don't let anyone tel lyou pickup off a beach... that's just stooped. even at 100% melee damage, a metal axe will usually net at Least 2 stones per swing.... you can only 'pick-up' stones as fast as you can swing. therefore, rocks are faster.

im praying the giant stone farming armadillo is next dino they add...

Atm the best way to get stone is by a metal hatchet and have a Dino follow you to carry what you collect. They will be adding a Dino to get stone eventually but for now this is the best method.

yea, to clarify on my last post; beach pickup is valid... especially at lower levels... but caravan'd dino's and using an axe on rocks (especially metal rocks) is technically faster. and I like faster.

Melee damage does NOT increase resources gathered anymore from what I've heard (yet to test) as of a couple patches ago. I find picking them up off mountains to be the fastest personally. Not having to deal with a tool is huge imo.

when I caravan I bring like 5 axes; ingots are pretty easy to come by so I personally scoff at repair costs. Time is key; and tools are currently fastest.

just my 2c.

press e to stone

What's the damage on your axe? Because currently it's about 3x slower to use tools for me at 100% dmg.

Best way : stone hatchet (ramshackle or apprentice) on METAL rocks (golden glint) those will give minimal metal and maximum stone. You can get up to 48 stones on a full golden rock.

Metal axe?

nah... trust me... you cant pickup rocks any faster than you can swing. both require positioning... and swinging a tool can net you more than 1 stone per swing, with a Primitive Metal Axe, at stock (100%) melee damage.

tools on rocks is faster. simple math....

pickup is Easier, and doesn't require you to repair tools etc.... but tools are faster.

a pure metal rock with an axe nets me like 75 stone and 25 metal in about 7 hits. can you pickup that much in 7 'pick-ups'???

no. you cant.

Sell Dinos for 1k+ stone per Dino? On my server people sell and buy Dinos for insane material rates. :)

Hit metal node rocks with a metal axe. If in an area with a lot of metal node rocks.
With the recent update on damage node on trees and rocks.

Use Axe on rocks if you have high melee damage

or

Use autoclicker macro to pick up rocks from ground.
