Protection Instict on Dinos
This is something I have noticed, and others I know have noticed but....can there please be an option at some point for dinos to have SOME sort of self preservation instinct? Say you have a dinosaur on passive, for..whatever reason. Why then would the dino sit there and LET itself be killed, by something like a dilo? I think it would be nice if, no matter the setting it's on, if after it reaches a certain percentage on it's health, or a certain number of hits, that it fights back to protect itself.

Recently, someone in our tribe accidentally set our dinos on passive. We don't know who, it was likely a key misclick that set off the passive whistle. I know I accidentally whistle all the time when typing, and now im paranoid. Anyways, so our dinos were on passive...and a saber got into our enclosure somehow and murdered nearly all of our dinosaurs. Not to mention I was was killed by a raptor while trying to knock it out, and before I could get back, the carno I was on(despite being powerful) died to the raptor because he was accidentally set to passive.

I think it's a useful setting for people who like to screw around and hit one another(I know we do that) but I think it would be nice if it at least defended itself after getting hit so many times, instead of just standing there and taking it...waiting to die..

hmm, they said you will beable to build on your saddles soon, so go turrets on the back of dinos.
lol the horror.

so you're basically asking passive to be neutral even though there is already a neutral? XD

no, because neutrals will attack right away, or defend you. Which is a different option. I am saying that a dinosaur that is getting hit over, and over, and over, whether 'passive' or not should eventually go 'stop it!' and bite back.

Can we stop being ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid. There is already a setting for this, it's called Netural, also the same behavior when set to attack your target.

Stop setting them on ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ passive if you want them to defend themselves. There's a reason those settings are there, and setting them to passive is something you actively have to do as they come by default set to Neutral.

THE WHOLE POINT of setting them on passive is specifically so they don't fight back. This is important for flyers who are almost impossible to mount once they enter combat and start zipping around in circles.

Note: The devs can't fix stupid. Stop being stupid.

Was that a mistyped saying you were on your Carnos back but because he was on passive he died? I don't think so. The rider was at fault or he was not as powerful as you thought because if you are riding him being passive change nothing as you are the one controlling him and do the attack.

I've had my dinos sit in water and drown themselves if I died in the water. I agree the AI should have some sort of self preservation kick in to at least get themselves out of danger if they are dying.

No no, I was on his back, I got off to shoot tranq's at a raptor, the raptor turned and killed me, I was close to home but in the minute it took me to try and reach him, he died.

I will not deny I was at fault but...I mean...why would a dinosaur just stand there and let itself die? It just doesn't make any sense. If a T-rex got pecked to death by a dodo, don't you think that would be a little ridiculous that it just stood there and waited to die?

that to Joreel. I can't tell you how many tamed Ptera's I have had land in water and drown before I could get them.

Wow, people are getting so upset about this topic. Is it really that controversial to imagine a carno being slowly eaten by a dilo might decide to fight back at low health?

that's what im saying Soup, thank you. I am simply suggesting that when they are getting low on health that something kicks in to protect themselves. It's not the same as neutral or aggressive, or attacking your target.

already fixed in 188

Passive should run away. Perhaps fight back at 20% health maybe?

No, absolutely nothing wrong with that. But asking for them to add a setting which already very clearly exists in the game is just stupid. This is absolutely not a problem at all if they aren't set on passive (there is a reason passive exists, and it should not be removed). The problem is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ morons keep setting their pets to passive then wonder why they are dying. STOP SETTING YOUR PETS TO PASSIVE IF YOU ARE TOO RETARDED TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THAT MEANS.

If you're pets die because they are set to passive, that is your own damn fault and no one else's, stop coming to the forums to complain about your own stupidity, all you are doing is proving to the world how retarded you are.

Haha, why are so mad about this? Is it that big of a deal to imagine a condition in which, any pet at 10% health or lower becomes hostile to things attacking it?
Nyan Rose Jul 21, 2015 @ 2:56pm
Why get so upset over a suggestion? Like I said it is NOT the same. Just that after a while, the dino probably would either run away, or protect itself. Why is that so hard to believe as being a thing?
