Info on transponders and trackers
They are a little expensive, but once you make them you shouldn't need many more.

You only "need" one transponder tracker, but you may want to have more. You need a transponder for as many dino's as you want to track.

-Putting it on yourself: Have transponder on you and simply equip the transponder. It should put a tracker on you, so you can find your body. Then hit P.

-Putting it on others. With the tracker in your hand, when next to the person / creature use the left mouse button, it will throw the transponder.

Once all are placed with tracker in hand hit the right mouse button. Names will pop up the direction the tracked animal or animals is you have many transponders out. You will also get a range. You can only use the tracker about once every 10 seconds.

So you probably want to carry one tracker for finding critters. You also probably want to have a couple at place you may respawn to find your body.

The only problems that I see is if you have too many transponders out they could clutter and block each other. You also can't use them mounted, which means you can't track while flying.

Hey fellow Arkers... Just FYI.. I tried placing the transponder nodes on the dinos and would get a message "No creature nearby to attach to". However, I've been able to place them on the bronto, sarco, trex, spino, trike, pteranadon, and raptors (megladon isnt working at all anywhere on the body). I had to place them on the underside of their bellies (prone position in some cases like raptors and pteranadon). Can anyone else confirm that this is happening?

you have to be close to the center of the dino to place it - for a rex the closest is under its belly or prone on the saddle, for other dinos it's REALLY close to the side, try jumping for bigger dinos.

I also can't figure out how to equip the damn things though - I guess I could try with a friend so he puts one on me and vice-versa.

I put then on 4 dinos and went in the house and clicked it.
I got the message on the top left corner, all 4 of them on top of each other for 2 second.
I couldn't even read it.

Update tested it a bit more.
You have to be looking in the direction of the lost dino.
The message will show anywhere (screen) where the dino is located.

I had most of my success planting it on the saddles.

I don't have to be looking at the dino. When the message is top left or right it means the dino is behind you. I get a 5 sec window to spin around. If I am looking exactly 180 degrees from the dino then the message is bottom center which can be confusing. At times I hit the button and I get no readings. It takes a few tries. It's obviously a little flaky, maybe by design.:) There may be future upgraded devices in the technology tree that will give a better signal. It's really only practical to use it on yourself, if you can get it equipped, or on a few dinos like your mount or the ones in your hunting party. I am sure improvements will come in one form or another. I like the idea of a trap that attaches a transponder.

My biggest gripe about the trackers is that they are not reusable. I think they should be more like c4 in that it can be removed and reused(if it didnt explode obviously). If you place one upon yourself or tribesmate and they die the tracker works great but if there body gets eaten by a dino it disappears. And does not move over to the bag as I think it should.

what a piece of crap, one use and i can see my pet tags before it even has range to work, cant use it to find strays while flying or use it while on any pet really...junk

You hit P to put it on yourself.

Odd. I just had one on myself and killed myself, and I could not use it. Anybody had luck?

Did you kill yourself where wild dinos might have eaten your body? Or at home where your own dinos could also eat you? Id imagine once the body is gone the tracker poofs - makes this not so great for finding oneself. May not be the issue, but its an obvious possibility!

When dinos decide to eat your body they're as kind as to pack your stuff into a bag and put the previously equipped transponder on top of it, so you still get a signal till the bag decomposes

this issue has been fixed in 188.2 :D

That is how it works now, it wasn't how it worked when I posted that :P:

its still garbage...cant even get it to work( maybe 1 out of 10 times when green light is on does it work)
Lilkinsly Jul 24, 2015 @ 6:38pm
It needs time to charge. It is charged when the green light is on. It takes about 10 seconds between uses.
