Building some kind of bird cage?
Has anyone built a bird cage or some kind of roofed building to contain their birds?

I want to do something like this for my birds, especially the dimos. Yes, I know I can set them on passive, and then they most likely won't fly off, but someone in my tribe keeps whistling everything on neutral, and then all my birds go crazy whenever someone fights too close to our base, and I have to spend an eternity looking for all of them afterwards. Keeping them in the house isn't a good idea, as they keep getting stuck in everything.
Ideally, I wish we could build a realistic birdcage/aviary kind of thing, but since this isn't in the game (yet?) I need somewhere to put them for now, where I can easily get them in/out. If it's big enough for pteras and argents as well, that's even better.

Does anyone have a good idea for something like this? Have you built something similar?
Please provide screenshots if you have :)

We keep all our smaller dinos in a closed building. It's not even that big of a work to make.

Just build a building with a gate that big enough to fly the birds through. Or you can just use the glith through wall bug to get them in and out.

We built one yesterday.

We built a 4x4x4 block with a stone dino gate as an entrance on top of our base, worked perfectly. Only have ptera's to park thus far though, so I can't really speak for the other flyers but I don't see why it won't work.

Argentavis is a pretty tight fit through the dinogate but it will if you don't clutter the gate with foundations/terrain etc. nearby.

Already builded one, but was getting so many trouble with the birds inside, their wings was getting stock in every wall or in the door. It was flying weirdly inside (just like when your blocked by an other dino and you seem to be lagging)
So i destroyed it, builded an other one, even bigger. Same thing, now I simply let them near my bigger dino, leaving bird in passive mod.

Did not had any more problem now that they are well protected and stay on passive.

Are you on a private server? Or an official?

Our private server is set so the group commands for dinos only affect your own. This fixes part of your problem.

All the current birds can fit through the dino gates. I built a dino garage, with a 7x6 square footprint, which should house all of my planned dino's. It's 5 walls high also, which allows for a shelf of ceiling tiles to land the birds on.

If you put this on an upper floor, you need to have a landing pad outside the door for when you bail off to close the door after exiting.

Note: When landing on my server, hold S until forward motion almost stops, then hit spacebar followed immediately by U to dismount and keep your bird from flying away.

I guess I'll just have to build a big house for them. Sucks though, it would so awesome with a see-through cage/aviary. Hope they add something like that later!

And I play on a private server (I own it). I know you can change dino ownership to personally owned, personally ridden (which I guess is what you're referring to), but since we're only IRL friends in the tribe atm, I don't really want to stop the sharing/borrowing of dinos within the tribe.

Open air cage on top of your building is all you need. I keep five fliers on mine with room for more.

I simply built a behemoth gate ontop of my main building and enclosed it, now I got a fly-in dino vault. :) http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=484978123

We simply land our birds on the roof of our house, no problems have been experienced.

While not a birdcage, I did make some dino garages on the side of my house. I can open the doors and fly the birds in, then fly them up onto the second level platform inside and park them.

I really like your barn. How are you protecting your brids from other players? Or are you on a PVE server
