Mammoths are best ground mule.
Parasaur is a good early mule
Get a small army of Carno's plus one raptor (leader). Make all carnos follow the raptor. You now got yourself an army of tanks for transport :D
(The speed you move stuff from a to b is insane, you will need stamina on the raptor though.)
Alternatively, you can have only carnos and never have to wonder about stamind, just jump from one carno to the next :P
Parasaurs have a decent speed, but more importantly can pretty much run forever without running out of stamina. So at low levels, having some trikes follow you while you lead on the parasaur is a good way to haul stuff around.
At higher levels, Mammoth, high weight, can run quite long on his stamina and quite good speed.
Bronto's are kings of weight, they start out with 900 and depending on your tame can start out even higher and gain between 50 and 100 weight per level up. but they are slow. although less so when following. But be prepared on having an earthquake happen every time you move.
In terms of sheer damage nothing beats a T-rex. But other carnivores can also reach high damage.
Ground Mule: Mammoth
Air Mule: Argentavis
Ground Transport: Sabre tooth (argument can be made for Raptor, longer sprint & faster non-sprint but sabretooth spam jump I think negates this)
Air Transport: Pteranodons
Berries: Stego (argument can be made for Trikes since stego are so slow)
Wood: Mammoth
Chitin: Sabre tooth
Flint/Metal: Ankylo (having a mule w/pickaxe is better for metal, unless you have metal rocks in your immediate vicinity)
So does upping damage make them gather more resources or is that just for mammoths?
Upping damage increases the resource yield of any dino.
Carnivores gather more hide/keratin/chitin/meat.
Herbivores farm more berries/wood/thatch/flint/stone
And Argents only when I need to carry it over a really large route or over the mountains (or on top - to gather metal, obsidian). Since they are quite a pain in the ass when you ride a dino on the ground and they follow you.
I get around 800 Weight on my paras/piggies and go into Movement Speed then. Fast and carry a lot. If you now get a saber or raptor with you, everything is fine and protected.
