Thatch Foundations ruining landscape on pve
I hope the devs can figure out a fix for the problem that comes from people placing too many thatch foundations on pve servers.

On our server, there seems to be people who have to have a thatch foundation along the entire length of the rivers as well as the tops of every mountain and all the land in between.

We now have to go a very far distance away from our base to mine stone and trees because they will no longer spawn any where near our base. We counted over 30 thatch foundations around our base area. I am sure there are others but we got tired of counting. :)

We asked in chat if the owner of these thatch foundations had plans to build but they said they just don't want others to build. I am not sure what could be done but hopefully something can. Our area is so ugly now without the trees or stone any where around and it is very dangerous to take Myrtle, our turtle, out to carry stone and wood for us. Hopefully something can be figured out.

Does anyone have any ideas how this problem could be solved?

honesty what should happen is they should expand the range of the no build zone around foundations, make it so fence foundations also apply the no build zone, but at the same time drastically reduce the range of the no grow zone. those 3 things would fix a lot of the problems.

Ohh... that might work. If the rocks and trees could come back along the river, the thatch foundations might not look so bad. Maybe the plants could hide the ugliness of them.

I just read another post on a different thread where someone has said they left their pve server because of this problem. We did a fly over of the river near our base and it is just thatch after thatch after thatch. I wonder if there is any plans to do something about this in the near future.

I can understand wanting to keep people from building in some spots. Spots you might want to build at a later time, expand from, or whatever reason people do it.
They really need a structure that does that but does NOT stop resources from spawning on it.

Maybe a land stake item?

Well for PvE, if said player isn't active, you can still destroy the eyesores.

No one likes it. And yet they can not stop it because the griefers will always do this.

Sounds like a good suggestion.

On our PvE server, one tribe has blocked off a cave so that it can only be accessed from the south. People put foundations in the south to keep the tribe from closing off the area completely. In such cases, I understand the use of foundations to keep particular areas and important paths open.

Your suggestion to implement a land stake item, which doesn't stop resources from spawning, would be ideal to counter some of the problems involved. Also it would be great to be able to plant new trees and bushes.

I hope they reduce the non-respawn radius of foundations and add territorial properties to walls, so that you can always build upon your walls, no matter if someone placed a foundation nearby.

We should not be able to just put down a thatch foundation and then not do anything with it. Maybe have boundary items for placing down boundary areas that can only be places within a certain distance of your main base.
I understand wanting boundaries but placing thatch foundations along the entire river, just because you can, should not be allowed.
