Fastest way to get prime meat?
First let me start by saying Ive searched and read the forum threads on this, I get it. Heres my deal: Im pretty much solo on an official PVE server. I never have much luck getting prime when I kill a stego or bronto. (1 piece if Im lucky).

How do I get enough Prime meat to actually tame something like a Rex or Spino? Do people knock it out and then just spend the entire time flying around, killing stuff for prime, flying back and feeding it over and over?

I ended up biting the bullet last night and tamed a lvl 12 Spino using just raw meat. Just to see if it could be done. Took roughly 5 hours and probably 700ish narcotics but it tamed. Idealy, Id like a higher level Spino/Rex (50s at l east) but just dunno getting Prime in a timely fashion while taming. Especially with a damn Spino. Any input?

Saber thoot. And build a perserving bin where you tame.

sabertooth , carno and t-rex bring back a lot of prime meat so easy to tame with one of these dinos

As Albert said.

Also another thing to add to above; Locate the dino you want to tame, then collect some primte meat upfront, build a bin at a nice space and then knockout the dino nearby. This way you've already build up some reserve food.

Start by taming a low level rex, maybe 8 or 9. get prime meat when you can but it shouldnt take too long. Then go for a high level rex. That new low level rex will be a prime farming machine.

That's how I do it too.. and also look out for a pair. So if the low level is male, find a female!

Have you looked into kibble?
Kotli Jul 16, 2015 @ 5:42am
Best method for taming carnivores is to knock them out let them get hungry then drop in a ton of raw prime meat (since they will eat it faster so less rots).
Store the meat in a bin so it dont rot as fast you can cook it reduces effectiveness by a factor of 2 though (still 2ice as good as raw meat though).
Dont forget the new Kibbles sure they take some work to get but are really good.

As for collecting prime meat I find Sharks give me 2-3 raw prime meat compared to 1 from land dinos (using the same tool on them).

Well, I don't have problems getting prime meat. Use a good tamed dino to farm them, obviously argentavis are a good choice as you can see the large dinos easier when flying and you usually are faster to bring the meat back. But every dino will do as long as it's fast enough and kills quickly.

Aside from sea creatures, the best bet for prime meat are brontos and trex, lesser sources are argentavis and carnos, and finally the stego. If you play alone on a PVE server you should not have the slightest problem finding masses of brontos at the rivers.

It helps a lot to have a fridge nearby while taming, or at least a preserveration bin.

Megalodons were best prime meat supplier for me. Try to tame next to a shore. If you have easy acces to technology, try going for a fridge when you tame. Prime Meat in a fridge last for a hour.

Ok heres the deal though: I try and get the guy I want back towards my base. The Rex and Spinos seem to spawn way the hell far away and Im on a bird looking around for them. Ive got an 88 cat and a 15 Rex and now 15 Spino. But I never find crap for big dinos when Im on these guys. They are great for meat but I rarely get Prime and when I do get prime, ive got nothing im taming so it just ends up being food on one of my tamed meat eaters. Ill pack a fridge with me and try heading out on the cat again and seeing how far I can go before I find a Rex worth taming. Thank you.

Preserving Binned prime meat lasts for about 15 and is not really efficient. You really need a refridgerator and to be two for a big tame for starter. You check how much time it's gonna take to starve it. And when/if it says it's gonna be ready in a hour, make your fridge (dont forget gasoline, generator, straight cable and outlet to go with it) and go for it. Must be done with a dino that is above lvl 80 though. It's not worth the high ressources price otherwise. Gotta go back to fridge after each prime meat acquired. Best results on shorr because there won't be as many carnivores trying to it your tame.

Why "reserve Food" ? It is actually better to let it hunger for hours and gather primes - then you just have to put them all in at once and he will eat almost everything without losing effectiveness because of normal meat or something.

I usually tame alone and i have no problem on collecting prime so far.

My method is: get the dino asleep, put some fence around it especially if dilo's/raptor/rex are attracted to it (like argentavis, ptera etc.. )
If your server is populated and/or have a few prime meat ressources, build a preserving bin.

As for the hunting, Argentavis, argentavis ALL the way, other dino's are WAY to slow unless you're taming near the beach then megalodon/plesio are better.

Argentavis is the fastest as it can travel very fast, you don't need to avoid some pathes as you fly, (rex tend to block over nothing)

They deal decent damage and they also gather tons of prime meat. I get up to 6 prime meat on brontosaur, up to 5 prime on rexes, 3 for other species.

And of course, if you're near the beach, megalodon/plesio all the way
