Artifact of The Devourer Cave Help

I realy need help with the cave on the island to the north that contains the artifact of the devourer. Me and my budy went in there and emidiatley turned tail when we saw the pit with 50+ bats in it. I have since read up a little on the cave and have discovered that it is basicaly a huge pit with a precarius path leading down it. You can take the path or just parachute through the bats. Also people have complained that its near impossible to get back out of said pit without building several ramps and platforms along the path. Could anybody help me in finding a way to get in and out and also avoid or kill all those damn bats? I have stocked up 100 rifle bullets for the long rifle and have considered just sniping the bats 1 at a time with my friend and then trying to go down. Is this a good strategy?

How do I get past the tons of bugs at the botom? Do I just need to juke them?

YOU ARE GOING TO DIE
so go in practice the run and learn the path, you can walk faster then the bats at most times, round the creepy crawlies up down the bottom and just drag them away from the Item then next run bring it up past the metal ore block and a little further to a good flat clear area. the bats might need to be draged away so you might have to run past and drag them to the bottom then die and get back to your beds and run again to collect your artifact. the hardest jumps i sugjest draging them away before attempting to get further up. when you die, die on flat ground or you will notice your body rolling off the edge and down to the bottom.

Aggro'd the bats, the AI will deal with most of them and when they're in a clump do a quick fly through and attack, repeat for the scorps and spiders. You need to be real careful with stamina though, if you dismount while there's still a lot of enemies you could be stuck. Maybe set your mount to passive, or have a saddle on all of them.

You have to bring them in one by one, and make sure they don't spazz out in the main chamber until all of them are in.

This was the first cave I ever visited (and have visited many times since), I don't believe I have ever died.. There is only one difficult-ish jump in the entire cave (its a tiny cave, mind you), in my opinion... idk what everyone is on about ^^

I know its been a while but try going in the caves with wolves level 190+ they take out the bats with one bight every time. Take Gernades just in case of emergency's and sleeping bags. Expect to be there a while lol
