Artifact of The Devourer Cave Help

I realy need help with the cave on the island to the north that contains the artifact of the devourer. Me and my budy went in there and emidiatley turned tail when we saw the pit with 50+ bats in it. I have since read up a little on the cave and have discovered that it is basicaly a huge pit with a precarius path leading down it. You can take the path or just parachute through the bats. Also people have complained that its near impossible to get back out of said pit without building several ramps and platforms along the path. Could anybody help me in finding a way to get in and out and also avoid or kill all those damn bats? I have stocked up 100 rifle bullets for the long rifle and have considered just sniping the bats 1 at a time with my friend and then trying to go down. Is this a good strategy?

Went in there once, theres a jump near the top that got us all killed when we tried to get out.

Don't forget that there are a lot of spiders and scorpions after you reach the bottom, i wouldn't recommend to parachute down, as long you don't fall down on accident. You don't want to land in a place where there are scorpions and spiders left, behind, right and infront of you.

Took a pike, wore hide armor. Took the left path, killed everything on the way down. I was level 51 at the time. The cave is easier than the larger South cave with the jump in in. You probably need better preparation.

three of us just went with pikes and hide. We would agro some with bows or rifle and kill them. walk a little farther agro a few. kill them. but yeah those jumps are super tricky. we had to build some platforms.

someone I know suggested trying to do it solo on a high level sabor. I have not tride it yet but I suspect that you will still need to build a little for some of the jumps going back up. I AM sure that a high level sabor could easy tank all of them at once. I've done things like that in other caves and aftter killing everything had about 1/4 hp left on my sabor but I mean no harm no loss.

more impractically but much funnier would be to take some pillers with you. and a parashoot and jump in as a naked. build as much as you can. die. repeat. then brings some ladders and do the same. eventually you will be able to build a ladder from the bottom to the top.

Ok thank you guys all so much for the advice and experience. Me and my friend overestimated the cave on our first aproach and have been to scared to tey and conqure it until we new exactly what it would take. P.S. can the bats harm wooden structures? I am assuming not.

There is a "diving board" rock right at the entrance that juts out directly over the artifact. Build a ladder.

I build several beds back at the cave entrance and just suicide built the wooden ladder down to the bottom. Taking 3-4 ladders at a time, I would usualy get all 4 placed before the bats klilled me, then I respawned and repeated till the ladder was completed.

I took 5 bullets and a scoped longneck rifle. If you shoot a bat in the wing they will not die but agro you and bring 5-10 friends as well. A pike will 1 shot them.

So the trick is to agro as many as you can and stab them to death, heal up and repeat till all are dead, then climb down and get the artifact.

Went up & down with my tribe several times...without building anything inside (pve server).

The way down is easy, but you need to take care of bats :
- stick your back to the wall to not being bumped in void!
- look up to not hurt your mates
- spam your pike until everyone is dead.

The way back is a little more tricky, you absolutly need to be light (dont take metal / obsi...) to jump higher, run and jump at the limit of cliff and you'll be good ! ;)

That cave is the third easiest on the island, IMO. Go in there with 2 parachutes a piece good armor, a metal pike and at least 75 arrows. Search every thing you kill for more arrows. Take it slowly and only aggro a few things at a time.

From memory: Going down the path there is one jump you have to clear. Its not crazy. It is not too hard to jump back the way you came either. Take a few things along to make a few thatch building supplies if needed. If you are really worried about getting back out have a third friend outside the cave that can bring you things you might need if you get stuck.

Pikes do not always one shot bats. One shotting bats with a pike is dependent on many factors such as melee damage, level of bat and quality of Pike.

I tried to agro them with the scoped longneck rifle but only the one I hit agroed (I was mainly going for headshots to one it kill them but I did hit a wing or to) was I doing it wrong or do I have just try a few more times?

Haha. OK so it had been a while since I had been there. There are a ton of jumps I forgot about. How I forgot about all dem jumps is beyond me.

How do I get past the tons of bugs at the botom? Do I just need to juke them?

Parachute down to a corner, get a pike, start clicking.

I went in with 3 pteras, all fairly low level, but health was 800-1500. Aggro'd the bats, the AI will deal with most of them and when they're in a clump do a quick fly through and attack, repeat for the scorps and spiders. You need to be real careful with stamina though, if you dismount while there's still a lot of enemies you could be stuck. Maybe set your mount to passive, or have a saddle on all of them.
