A bit disappointed by the Omni lamp
Hello!

When I first read the update would include an omni lamp, I was thrilled, thinking I'd finally be able to correctly light up the inside of our bases, instead of relying on way-to-bright-for-interiors-projectors.

I can't deny I've been disappointed to see the omni lamps were actually another projector designed for lighting up stuff outside.

While regular lamp posts and the new omni lamp post still works as they light things up through walls, is there any hope for "smaller" light sources, such as ceiling lights?

Anyway! Off making more kibble!

cheers,
Callyste

I find the lamp works just fine indoors. I agree the flood lights were way to bright but the Omni light works well in my 8x4x2 building. I haven't tried it in anything smaller.

Yes, it does works. But it's way too bright for a "pleasant" use inside. I think the worst begins to appear when you upgrade your base to metal. The reflection/bloom that follows seriouslyl kills your eyes :p

I just wouldn't mind smaller ceiling lights ^.^

We are painting our metal walls just to reduce glare due to these lamps. :)

You can use this command int the console to lower bloom effects:

r.bloomquality 0

For lightshafts from various sources:

r.lightshafts 0

Game looks much better with these settings IMHO. Might help with the lights in the metal buildings .... not sure as we are PvE and use just wood

I already know these commands - thank you for sharing, in any case. However, they are mere band-aid, and don't "correct" the problem. Same for painting (which I already did).

I'm just suggesting actual interior lighting sources. Which, I guess, is probably already planned along with other cosmetic stuff (who doesn't want dino trophies to hang on the walls!)

Yep, I agree more indoor options are needed and they have been promised. Maybe we will be able to craft a light shade :))

I want to make a lampshade out of all the implants I've collected. Or better yet, use them as nightlights.

How about a necklace so other scan see how badass you are.
