Level 90 T-Rex Taming/Tranq'ing
So has anyone here managed to tame a level 80+ T-Rex? If so how many Tranq's did it take and are you able to still tranq T-Rexes from the grasp of a Argentavis? If not what is the best way to bring down one of these beasts?

Highest I've taken down is 87 level, it took 92 arrows exactly, one arrow did 142 torpor when I tried it on my own bird. Torpor was kind of strange, it was 6200 when it was under taming, but when it woke up, it went up to 12 300 or something like that.

Our tribe, used raptors and high speed dinos, to lure a lvl 90 female Rex to a round cliff where it couldn't get us. Hit it with about 140 tranq arrows for it to be brought down.

rex have more torpor, ive used like 120 on lvl 90.
best way to knock one out is to lure it to a cliff with a bird, then just stand on cliff with rex at bottom and tranq it down. its real easy

It takes ALOT (like 70/80+) but it is possible ofcourse, alternatively use a scorpion (high melee dmg preferred) to take it down with highest TE possible

For some reason for me it doesnt matter what i use to knock the dino out, i always start at 99.x% TE and ends up being very high, always.

Is there a timer between each Tranq shot? Also do body shots and headshots matter?

The timer is very short but it is there. If it's the same as it's shooting your own animals, the delay is about 2 seconds. That's atleast when the torpor level is raised to the maximum amount when you shoot your own dino. There was some topic about the headshoot / bodyshots but i can't for dying remember how it was.

I read that head shots do more but haven't tested the difference myself. I usually do all headshots since I stand on cliff with Rex at the bottom and he just stares up at me and takes like 120 face shots to take down lvl 90 Rex. And since Rex have lots of health you don't really have to worry about killing it so do t have to wait more than a few secs in between each shot.

With headshots though, you're still doing a lot more damage than anywhere else, isn't that going to bring your starting effectiveness down?

Get a Scorpion, raise it to 250 or more speed and roughly 600-750 damage. Rest put in Health and it should be around 2500-3k if it was a good level. Very easy to attack, take a hit and knockback from the Rex, then escape away. Do not drive into trees or rocks, cuz that will likely get you stuck and possibly killed. Have plenty of rotten meat to forcefeed the Scorpion as needed. This is the easiest way I've found to KO and then tame the big Rexes.

Max level for wild dinos on official servers is 120 atm. So you are playing on a unofficial modified server. Every value can be completely different on your server.

Edit:

No. Only damage done *after* the dino is unconcious reduces taming effectiveness.
