You need to go on a forest/mountain rampage! Most likely mountain rampage. Kill everything! Then the Apes will spawn.

Darckray, you should also get the old one.
Ok then, but, i'm confused, what did they mess up? i thought the apes weren't spawning at all

We messed up the version number on the patch. So, patch 201, is reporting as 200. If you patched, and it says 200, you have the latest version. The client is just lying to you because we're bad at our jobs :(
You aren't bad, you're just very very tired, your eyelids just want to close, your brains are turning to mush, from all of our incessant whining regarding ETA's !
My first thought was Dense Forest/Jungle so that'd be where I'd look.

Keep in mind you'll need to free up spawn slots for them by having a tea party with your forest friends.

And by tea party I mean lure them in and then relinquish them of their blood and sell it on the black market. ;)

LOL

Just think like an ape! If you were an ape that picked and ate berries, where would you live? Too bad they don't swing around on vines ;(
Related question: IF you haven't been to a region (IE I play Solo mostly) will dinos be new spawn or does the entire island spawn regardless of where you are?
The key thing to remember, with the addition of the new Giganto's , they didn't increase the total number of dino spawns, so after restarting a server or singleplayer mode, need to kill some already spawned dinos (server is probably spawned to set max # of wild dinos), so that spawn spots open up, where they 'can' spawn. Keep in mind, things don't respawn instantly, probably about 30-60 minutes?
It always seems almost impossible to find the new dinos when they are first released. Next thing you know, they are everywhere. The only exception so far has been Spinos which were everywhere as soon as released.
Yeah, I think they made 'new' spawns for the spinos, meaning when they added spinos, they increased the max # of dinos able to spawn on a server. Eventually this would've been a problem, causing alot of lag for servers, after adding 10 or more new dinos.
curiously would upping the Dino Count slider fix the need for having to perform mass Dino-cide on the east coast of my island via my T-Rex Horde? :P
I just found one!!!! im in 57-33 coords :D

What you can't see a giant monkey? hehe.
Said every American ever about big foot >.>
Found one wandering around Cragg's Island (the island in the southwest, by the green Obelisk). He wasn't very happy about me trying to shove berries in his mouth...
Spent 4 hours looking for a Giga and I still can't find one.
Awhile ago rumors was said that apes would spawn in the swamp biome.. This map is of the swamp and winter biome. The green was swamp and blue was winter. Just google Swamp Biome Map Ark and this will appear under images. Ive went around off this map all night, found just 1-2 but maybe its worth some research to see if its legit or not.
