Can't tame gigantopithecus?
Whenever I walk up to try to tame a gigantopithecus with mejoberries in my "0" slot, it allows me to feed it, but shortly after it begins to attack me. I've also tried to knock it out, but when I do it does not allow me to put food in my inventory, nor does it ever lose any torpor and it remains unconcsious forever.

You have to stay behind it all times and not make it angry. Like an ichthy but angrier.

Did you try feeding it and then immediately running away for a little while?

He's a bit bipolar, you need to be VERY careful how close you are to him :p

can you sneak up behind him?

When i snuck up behind him, and began taming him. After about 10 mins, His taming bar started falling back to 0

i tried everything.. sneak up and feed him and let him not face him and run away etc. but nothing of this stuff helps.
he also loses his taming if he has aggro activated.

I've tried that but it's extremely hard to not bump into him at one point or another... I also swear that sometimes he'll aggro on me even if I don't touch here. Is there any possibility it could be changed to prevent one from aggroing on the person who last fed him so long as he is still in the process of being tamed?

My experience was this - and it worked. Load slot "0" with Mejos. Then grab your favorite mount and go Bigfoot hunting. After a time, I finally spotted a "Squatch" near the thick, squat trees by the green Obelisk. I set my raptor on passive and following me. This done I slowly snuck up behind Squatch and hit 'E' and fed him a berry and then ran my butt off to get away.

They tame like Ickys, but will get VERY mad if you look them in the eye or bump them in close space.

After the initial feeding, I watched, waiting in the weeds. I tried to stay behind trees and then after about 30 seconds I repeated the process of feeding the beast another berry.

After several feedings and having made good progress, he did in fact AGRO on me...I ran away, jumped on my raptor, but kept in sight until he calmed. I proceeded my sneak feedings, feeding and retreating, and after a time I FINALLY tamed him. This guy takes patience and perserverance.

TIPS: Run in Feed him by hitting "E" and run away. You really dont need to go far once fed, just enough for him to continue his rummaging in the bushes. You have to feed him multiple times but only ONE berry at a time, then wait for him to be hungry again (just like the ICKY)

It would likely help to have a buddy alongside to deal with external threats like bugs, dilos, etc. Be patient though -- it does work.

It would be a great deal less frustrating if the constant server lag didn't cause the big ape to suddenly appear infront of me and get enraged.

Wait a few patches until monkeys get fixed. You'll safe yourself many many hours and tears...

Make a taming cage for him/her that you can hide just out of sight on the roof but can still see the pest to gthrow him food.

Gotta love it when the taming bar just magically drops, even while you're feeding him. I got a level 35 up to about 80% 3 times, every time the bar just magically drops.

its a ♥♥♥♥ way to tame when he aggro.. and when you feed to late the taming bar go down.

This is how we do it, get them with the walls off then once in with them snap the wall in place and feed it from the top - works great!
