Tips for a beginner? My base got raided

I bought this game yesterday and i spent all night and morning building a wooden base. I log off for 1 hour and when i log back in my entire base was destroyed by a clan with trex and now i have to start over from scratch.

So how do i survive against these players? Why would they raid a beginner house?

So many reasons why they may raid a lower level with no ingame gain. But ignoring why they would do it, the best course of action would be to join a tribe. If you are set on playing solo you will need to either setup multiple hidden bases, or dump constant playtime into the game.

Unfortunately this is quite a common occurrence if your playing by yourself. A lot of the time on pvp servers people will raid or destroy your base just because they can.

People raid beginner houses because they are bored and it is fun to them. Bad taste in my opinion, but it happens all the time. My first tip for you is to play on an unofficial server that is against offline raiding, however, if you want to stay on an official server you have to adapt.

First and foremost, finding a tribe to join will help immensely, barring that.... Build small, hidden bases, not large or on the shore. When you have the oxygen, build a hidden cache of items on the ocean floor, hidden from normal view. When you have leveled up enough that you can build metal, you can layer it in such a way as to make it so difficult for people to raid that they won't bother. You can have a metal hatchway just inside a door and use a wooden ladder to climb up it. Chances are, when they blow the door, they will blow the ladder too. Have doorways that lead to empty rooms so when they blow it, they get nothing and wasted C4. You'll be able to put up traps and guns to help fight them off when you aren't there.

TL;DR: Not a whole lot you can do except join a tribe and/or survive until you can build metal walls.

If you want to play alone make a stone house. Makes them work for it. Can't destroy it with dinos need grenades, c4, improvised explosives, rockets.

Also once you can make bear traps but a hundred of them around your house. No one will even bother going near it. They are just a pain to deal with.

are you on an official server?? If you are, leave immediately, and find an unofficial server to play on. Some of them frown on offline raiding, and others flat out do not allow it. Some even have limited PVP times, and only allow it on weekends or evenings. You may need to try a few different servers to find one that is just right for you. I believe some even have an "invulnerability" addon that wont allow your base to be raided certain times (midnite to 8 am for example).

At the start, you will die alot. make a small base with a bed, and put a sleeping bag somewhere else, as hidden as possible until you can get built up better. You will have to work on getting the stone tier as soon as possible. This makes raiding your base quite a bit harder, as they have to use explosives.

Are you guys from the UK or not?(timezone qeustion, were dutch) because me and my gf are looking for a good server to play on are your ruleset and game setup looks good :) could we join

You can do it as a lone wolf, tribes ate usually useless, distracting your time and energy, 99% of the people are just XXXX and hinder your progress while not contributing anything useful.

To the first : Do NOT build any houses below stone ! No thatch, no wood or you will become instant raided.
The best house is a combined hangar to live and to share with your pets. Place bed, campfire, boxes and so on at the outer walls. 3x4 is minimum, better go 5x4.

Build Thatch foundations first, so you can see if your dreamcastle is valid in the place of your choice. Replace the corners with wood foundations as soon as possible. Most raiders are too lazy to destroy wood, and its just to mark your territory early.

Till you have stone access at L20 live as a nomad. If you log out, hide youself in high grass or between rocks. If xou die.. Who cares ? In 1 minute your stone tools are ready again.

Place spike walls in areas with dinos, lure them into the spikes where they stay stucked and hit their heads with your spear. Best XP in ARK is killing wild dinos, so kill every dino you can and dare.

As soon as you have access to stone tier build a hangar with double reinforced dino gate. You can set a second access, but use 2 doorframes with 2 doors. This way stupid raiders have to hit through 12500 HP to get in, no matter if they charge the dino gates or the 2nd access doors.

Place wooden spikes around your hangar and leave only the door/gate free. Raiders hate spikes and prefer to take targets without. On the roof of your hangar you can build an anti-besiege-platform. If you do that, place a ceiling over the platform and cover it with wooden spiked to prevent paratrooper drops or bird landing. It also protects your platform against arrows from above.

If you start this way you will NOT become raided and will have a lot of fun.

Finsl advise : Dont speak with people, better put your spear into their heads. I recommend 150HP, rest meelee damage, will onehot often if you hit the head :-)
