Fence foundations
Can dinos target and destroy them? Has anyone seen if they tend to attack the walls attached to such foundations or if they directly damage the fence on the ground?

I'm planning to create an anti-alpha structure and since it's gonna be metal for at least a couple of floors I wouldn't like it to be destroyed in seconds because the foundations are made out of stone (the metal ones are really too expensive for now). Any tips?

Yes dino attacks can damage fence foundations on/in the ground. Get the stone replaced with metal asap. Spikes can help also.

I'm interested in the AOE attack range too.

Hm. does that imply if a metal spike is covering a stone foundation alphas won't be able to damage it? It would be logical, but somewhat too easy to be real...

I guess I'll build a sort of tower so that only a few foundations will be needed. Thanks.

I had an alpha raptor attack metal and stone walls to get out of a pen we dropped it into right after they were patched in. (when you could still pick them up with birds).

The Alpha destroyed the stone in 2 or 3 hits, and damaged everything within 1 square radius of its swipes. So, the walls on either side were damaged, the fence foundations on the bottom of the destroyed section were damaged, and the fence foundations on either side were damaged. Expect the damage to travel at least 1 square left and right of the attacked section.

At that time the Alpha also damaged the metal sections of wall we had up, and would have destroyed them as well if the stone section had not given out first.

I heard this was patched, so Alpha's can no longer damage metal, but I have not had the chance to test it recently. Also their damage to stone is supposed to be reduced from what it was initially, but again, no chance to test.

We had one attack a stone collossal gate, and it ate through it pretty fast (seconds). Though this was not my structure, so I did not closely examine the resulting damage afterward.

Also, Only Alpha dinos can damage stone with their attacks. No dino's are supposed to be able to damage metal. Normal dinos can not damage stone.

Metal spikes do nothing but get in the way, they do not damage dino's at all.

hmm.. well drat, maybe normal dinos can damage stone? I have not tested it against wild dinos other than that Alpha... I know players can damage stone.

Was literally oneshotted after fast travelling by some non-alpha trex. He purposely destroyed my large storage box and my bed, but didn't damage the stone foundations below them or the walls adjacent the whole thing. Technically no, they can't damage stone stuff.

My wish to do a metal tower is that alphas were so present in my area it became the obsession of 2-3 small tribes on our coast, ours included. Now on the 196 they supposedly spawn inland and on mountains only, but I've seen some red mist descend from the mountain nearby before... Carnos on the hunt. Had to drag them away in suicidal runs, those had spawned inland but still got to the beach.

ah k, good to know that at least normal dinos can't damage stone. I thought I was confused there. Alpha's can be pretty mean, Occasionally they will travel around the island. And I still have seen alpha's spawn rarely on the coast lines, but they are very rare there

I hope most of those we met did spawn on the coast because in say 3 days I've met 4 or 5 myself, no t-rexes but an alpha raptor is a nightmare anyway. One level 8 took 5 of us in a few seconds, ok we had bows and spears but still level 20-30 players...

I have tested this on the newest build and yes, dinos can attack fence foundations. If you build stone foundations with a fence made of metal walls the Alphas will chew threw them in seconds. Metal fence foundations and metal walls are your only defense. Metal spike walls do nothing but irritate them for 2 seconds before they break those too. Spike walls do nothing to dinos, they are PvP only pretty much.

Many have said they are pointless against dinos overall, and it's quite a pity.
