Guide to changing .ini's for singleplayer mode
Ok, after doing some research and looking around and not seeing anything out there explaining how to do this, I decided to help others by posting detailed instructions here, to save others some time.

This is to change the .ini's for singleplayer mode , for servers or nondedicated servers you'll use the file called Game.ini in the WindowsServer folder, not the WindowsNoEditer folder.

Ok let's start !

First goto the WindowsNoEditer folder, folder is located in the following path (depending where you installed Steam, but by default is in Programs (x86) folder.

Steam\steamapps\common\ARK\ShooterGame\Saved\Config

in that folder, Config, you will see 3 folders: CleanSourceConfigs, WindowsNoEditer , WindowsServer

Open the WindowsNoEditer folder , in that folder you will see several files, open the file named Game.ini using notepad.

Once in Game.ini (using notepad) enter (can copy&paste from here) at the bottom, being careful not to change any of the existing text.

[/script/shootergame.shootergamemode]

DinoClassDamageMultipliers=(ClassName="MegaRex_Character_BP_C",Multiplier=0.1)
DinoClassDamageMultipliers=(ClassName="MegaCarno_Character_BP_C",Multiplier=0.1)
DinoClassDamageMultipliers=(ClassName="MegaRaptor_Character_BP_C",Multiplier=0.1)
DinoClassResistanceMultipliers=(ClassName="MegaRex_Character_BP_C",Multiplier=0.1)
DinoClassResistanceMultipliers=(ClassName="MegaCarno_Character_BP_C",Multiplier=0.1)
DinoClassResistanceMultipliers=(ClassName="MegaRaptor_Character_BP_C",Multiplier=0.1)

The above will ensure that all currently spawned alphas do very minor damage and are very resistant to damage (making them very easy to kill off).

Next , add :

NPCReplacements=(FromClassName="MegaRex_Character_BP_C",ToClassName="")
NPCReplacements=(FromClassName="MegaCarno_Character_BP_C",ToClassName="")
NPCReplacements=(FromClassName="MegaRaptor_Character_BP_C",ToClassName="")

The above will make it so the alphas don't spawn at all.

The next is to change how close foliage & stuff spawns beside buildings:

ResourceNoReplenishRadiusPlayers=1
ResourceNoReplenishRadiusStructures=.50

In the above, I changed it so that stuff will now respawn 1/2 as close as default, but left the distance from the player that stuff respawns the same. Basically don't want to see stuff just popping onscreen when it respawns. Those are multipliers, meaning at 1, the distance that things respawn by buildings on official servers is multiplied by 1. Example: suppose the default distance things spawn from structures is 150 meters, the game sees this value and multiplies 150 by it.. so... 150 * 1 = 150, if the setting is .5, then 150 * 0.5 = 75 , meaning things will now grow 1/2 as close as default.

Lastly, click File, then click Save, to save the changes you've made. Then you can just close the window and enjoy your game even more!

PS: Is always a good idea to make a backup copy of a config file, before you make changes, just copy the file and put it on your desktop, so that if you make a grave error, you have a copy of the original that you can just copy&paste back to where it should be :)

+1 Thanks for this info, very clear and precise. A lot just say 'change your settings' but there are a lot of folders and files for Ark, even more than fallout lol. Well done :0)
Can I leave out the part that disables Alpha spawns? Id like to see them still.

Ty ! I just figure alot of people don't want to risk messing anything up, but REALLY want the changes. Quite often have are able to do the changes, just don't know where to look to put them too !

The info is in 3 sticky threads in the 'Server Hosting & Advertisment' subforum.......has been there for some time now. New strings that are added pop up in the patchnotes sticky.....

Info is out there is ya look for it =P

@Wikumos

The first step in changing the .ini is to make a backup copy. You might want to put that in first thing after "Ok, let's start !".

Here's the thing, when I add stuff to ini's I always put it at the end, so it is easy to find, and if a problem, I can just remove what I put in.

But never hurts to have a backup copy saved somewhere too !

But one last step I should've included was to click File, then click Save, after adding the new stuff to the file.

there is no point to doing the damage multipliers if your just going to set them all to be replaced with nothing. extra edit that's unneeded.

The ones already spawned before you change the .ini are still in game. ??

caleb68, I left those in to address any that may already be spawned in the world. This way they'll be easy to kill off and won't kill you or your dinos in the process (no need to use cheat commands to get rid of them). They could be spawned anywhere on the island, you just haven't run into them yet.

The other things, just prevent them from spawning in the first place, but some 'could' already be in people's worlds from before the patch was put out.

one last bump, so people that need it see it :)

from my understanding multipliers don't effect already spawned, just new spawns, but probably just misinformed.

you're probably right on that one Caleb68, not 100% sure though, especially on singleplayer mode, the multipliers 'might' work on already spawned stuff, since they load/unload whenever you leave game.
Wikumos Aug 12, 2015 @ 9:39am
dino damage multipliers probably do change whenever you change them in the .ini, since they are a global value, meaning they change the damage for every trex, so now that I think about it, having those in, probably does change the damage that alphas do, even if previously spawned.

Thank you for this!
