Changing Ramp Orientation?
I'm trying to build a house by the beach. I got pillars in the sand leading up to a wooden ceiling (which is actually going to be the floor since you can't place foundations on pillars).

I'd like to ramp the floor I already have up to a second floor, but everytime I try to place the ramp, it leads down to the ground.

How do I place a ramp that inclines upwards?

Generally, you have to have the 2nd floor created first, and stand on it, for the easiest method.

That is not to say that you cannot do it without standing on the 2nd floor (did it without, yesterday), but it is easier. I haven't had any luck doing it without the 2nd floor existing, though.

Well it needs to lean against a wall to do so, not 100% sure what your base looks like but make sur its attached to a wall or roof.

So what you guys're saying is, if I just have a wooden foundation, and *nothing* else, I cannot place a ramp that inclines upward? There's no like, shift click or anything that let's me invert the ramp's orientation?

Anyone? Anyone know of such a trick? Devs, can you please add this?

So is that still a 'no' on the getting the ramp to incline upwards deal?

It would really help making my house look neat

Build part of the second floor to attach it to. Currently, I believe, that is the only way to achieve what you are trying to do. I personally prefer using ramps to go up in my home but have stopped since they take up so much space. Now they exist solely for defensive purposes.

Why do some players like to build a square section and then a building ontop of it? easily destoyed, just foundation and everything would be gone.

I would like to build underground (e.g 1 small building, but you have dug into teh earth) this can also be done as a Mine and eventually you may break through into a cave network system, thus a small place above.

I'm not building a square section with a building on top of it. I'm trying to build a house supported by pillars, but I'd like the floor I already have to ramp up to an as-of-yet non-existing second floor.

This is what I've got so far:

The annoying fix is to just build more pillars adjacent to the ones I already have (to keep the tiles and snap points symmetrical), but then I got to go back and demolish the pillars I don't need.

I want to be able to simply ramp up at an incline. Is there really no way to do this?

I mean, look at this nonsense:

How am I supposed to get them to connect? This is why I need a "ramp upwards" option. Does anyone know how to get them to connect?

I just tried that. I could use some help, cuz I'm not getting it to work.

This is as good as I can get it:

Sigh... At least it's functional. You can go up and down it and you can't fall through the gap. Guess it's the best we got for Early Access.

Looks fugly though. I'm sad.

Is there definitely no one who can fix this?

Ok now all you gotta do is demolish that ramp, add another ceiling tile on the left side going towards where the ramp will be, and then put your ramp down.

Reason being you can put a ramp through the ceiling tile, but you cannot add the ceiling tile after the ramp has been placed.

Thanks for the reply, but your instructions cause this to happen:

The ramp sticks out the bottom of the floor now. If one were to walk under my would-be-house, and look up, it will look fugly.

Before I tried that, though, I finished the ramp section the other way and it looks like this:

Best I can do.
