Why is the Standing Torch light radius so low?
Boost plx.

You have no concept of how things get fixed and should be given a temp ban until you learn the basics.

You've never seen how well light propagates in real life from a fire have you?
It doesn't go very far, a few yards diameter at best in the dark.

I believe the point is that held torches give off almost 2x as much light as any other torch/fire in the game. It doesn't make sense that a standing torch would give off less light that when you're holding it in your hand...

because they asked a question and asked for it to be bumped up? really? honestly that wasn't even a bad question about it.

I think its more along the lines that they call it a 'standing torch' and its light radius acts more like a 'tiki torch' instead. After placing my first one in this game, thats exactly what i thought when i saw it lit at night "oh a tiki torch". If it were a actual torch the light radius would be more, but, wind would also effect its light radius too. causing it to raise and drop with the wind dropping / raising. I just think of them as tiki torches, and the light radius doesn't bother me.

Hehe, I gotta say this is actually funny. Fact of the matter is there are multiple examples of devs viewing posts/suggestions/bug reports just before a patch and then throwing an easy fast fix in for that exact problem. Just look through the comments in the patch notes thread and I'm sure you'll be able to find some.

On the other hand, maybe you don't have time to be constructive. Not saying I am, but you sure as hell aren't. Just checked your previous posts, and seems 90% of them consists of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about someone else. If all you do is when you come here is complain about others, well... I don't know man.

You seriously need to get laid.

Well the current "lamps" in game are also quite lousy since they act more akin to flood lights, I am just waiting for the new patch to hit to see the new electric light they are adding, hopefully they illuminate an area far better.

I noticed this as well and just use a single campfire in my buildings instead of a bunch of standing torches. I just assumed they did that to the decor type lights to keep performance from taking a dump when people started placing several down in the same area and lighting them.
Sperber Jul 13, 2015 @ 11:39am
Well, I for one think it's a fair question why the standing torch is so incredibly dim in comparison to the hand held torch which burns at much lower cost of materials. At least they could make them the same light radius.

If the Standing torch put out more light then there would be no incentive to make the electrical lights which light up a large area. Placed right you can illuminate the whole inside of a multilevel building with just a couple electric lights.

Incentive? Im sure the electrical light will be more resource efficient. The standing torch needs a buff. I could see if the standing torch used very very very little fuel, but it uses about the same as a campfire and I can at least cook and get warm from a campfire.

There wasnt really a need to necro a 2 year old thread for this as a mod from that long ago can potentially be gone/abandoned/broken.

However, Structures Plus (S+ for short) allows you to change light intensity on torches and lamps(and for lamps you can even change color). Also the standing torch in the mod doesnt use fuel.
