Saber vs Raptor for general farming?
Im curious to know, at base stats, and say each is same level, which provides the edge on potential for chasing-down and killing all sorts of prey?

I have a Raptor, but am curious if the Saber offers a bit of an edge when it comes to speed, damage and resilience. Ya know, as an edit, how about the Carnotaurus?

Thanks

Saber by far. Saber is faster, tougher, more resilient to torpor and has stamina for days.

Saber is a chittin / Keratin / skin farmer while raptor is a meat farmer. Sabers are more powerful in a direct fight while the raptor is a longer distance mount. Both have their advantages to be sure and in the end if it a farming issue pretty much any tame animal can kill nearly any wild animal anyway so I wouldnt worry too much about how powerful one is over the other.

I have both raptors and sabres and in honesty it depends what I want to hunt for, chitin / keratine SABRE all day, Just want to meat farm send 3-5 raptors to the beach and set them to aggressive then walk away for 15mins.

It is true that Sabres get a lot of hide etc, but the certainly are better meat farmers also.

With the speed, agility, stamina, toughness and resilience, they can out perform any other land animal in terms of time to kill and kills per minute, in turn farming more hide, chitin AND meat than any other land animal.

When I raptor farm, I set three raptors to follow one and set them all to aggressive. That helps keep them together so you don't have to chase each one down when you're done.

I'd give my opinion on the saber/raptor/carno debate, but I play SP with the settings tweaked, so my experience probably won't match up with that of someone on an unmodified server.

No, so not true. A raptor is much faster. In fact unless you spam the jump sabers are pretty slow in comparison. They can outpace a raptor for a short time (if you spam jump) but the raptor can sprint forever and the normal walk speed of a saber is PAINFULY slow. If you talk about more kills per minute and meat / skin farming a Rex is WAY better. A rex can kill 3-4 dinos in a single bite then harvest all of them at the same time. Hell rex can kill just by walking over things. I get more keratin and chittin in the same amount of time on my rex than any saber just because of how much faster it can kill even though it harvests less per animal. Lets also not forget that raptors and rexes will farm more prime meat per animal because they are meant to.

Thanks all. Sounds like the thing to do, really, is stick with the Raptor.

What you want a saber for is going into caves. They will descimate anything in there and farm tons of chittin

I personally find Sabers slower based on travel, but more powerful for quickly farming meat and flesh materials.

I don't even like using Raptors for meat. I'll use them to kill, sure, but actually go to my pick when it comes to harvesting. :nonplussed_creep:

Saber = Metal Hatchet
Raptor = Stone Pickaxe

I think thats the best way to describe^^

(Metal Pickaxe is a T-Rex or Spino... maybe even a Carno, dont know)

My experience differs greatly.

A saber does a heck of a lot more damage and has a boat load more stamina than a raptor. It is also much much faster when leaping, which it can do all day long with its large stamina pool which regenerates at a disgustingly fast rate.

Yes a Rex can kill multiple small Dinos with a single bite, but with very very little stamina to move from kill to kill quickly the Rex just gets out paced.

And again, yes, the 'chance' of prime may be increased with a Rex or raptor, but when my saber can kill 10 targets to the Rex and raptors 2/3.... Time per meat acquired = saber prima victor in every regard.

Think I might make a video about this actually....
